Basically, I was suggesting that you buy the shift cable kit that comes WITH the matching short-shift kit. It is designed to completely replace the original cables as well as modify the gearbox shifter to improve the shifting experience.

Although the design is basically the same between the different versions of short-shift kits, The one that comes with my upgraded cables is correctly designed to be integrated correctly to get the best feel and least issues.

Where did you get installation instructions for the cable kit? I don't make that public since another company was using my guide to help their buyers. If you mean the Short-Shift kit instructions, those for Dave's kit are out there but I don't make public my instructions because that would confuse everyone.

I will email you the link to the current version of MY installation guides so you can see the steps.

To answer one of your questions. I've not actually come across a car with a short shift fitted yet!

I really want to get one of your short shift kits. Just a little bad timing at the moment... I've got building work going on at my house and garage and I've spent a small fortune on the M100 already....oh yes and I'm relocating my daughter to Vancouver (Simon Fraser University)...

So I'm wondering whether I could justify buying one by me saving money getting it shipped to Canada. It looks like I'd pay 5% tax instead of 10% plus other bits and bobs. Do you have any experience of sending stuff to Canada JC? I'm wondering how long it would take and whether it could get caught up by customs.

I'll be over there for three weeks so plenty of time for it to arrive.

Just an update and also to keep the posting near the top (or bottom depending on how you sort posts).

Right now there are 2 kits available to assemble and to ship. I can build several kits at the same time.
It just takes a day or two to build, install and adjust before shipment.

With my current health issues and slow recovery from surgery and treatments, this might be the end of the kits.

I have enjoyed filling the empty space that showed up when Bob left the fold, but I don't have the strength to get to the shop these days.

I also see some of the SJ kits popping up on eBay and I can't compete with cheap, non bushed replacements.

To add enough insurance to fully cover a shipment, the price of shipping goes up a bit.
In a shipping claim, the shipping company usually refunds the base shipping cost to the shipper...(me)

Price WITH Postage and $200.00 insurance is:
$595.00 + $50.00 Shipping is $645.00 for US Cables and Short-Shift Kit
$595.00 + $90.00 Shipping is $685.00 for UK/Europe Cables and Short-Shift Kit

The biggest difference is that I declare the insured value on the invoice.
That also makes a huge difference in the VAT and tax bill at the receiver end.

The prices assume you will be paying using PayPal's Friends/Family option.
If not, you will need to add 5% to cover PayPal's retail fees.

Most of you "know" me from my posts and projects I have offered.

My health has been an issue for quite a while and it isn't getting any better, so I thought i would give everyone a "heads-up" that the days of my being able to "whip up" a set of cables and short-shift kit (as well as other projects) are quickly disappearing.

I still have a fair amount of the parts needed to make up the kits (except the actual cables), but my stamina is not good and my memory is even worse. Chemo is a great way to "kill" cancer and other ailments but it is also nasty in what it does to other parts of your body.

USPS has also decided that it is better to subsidize Amazon's shipping costs and over-charge everyone else for package postage. The cost to ship the cable kits has gone up quite a bit but I haven't changed prices in a long time. This really kicked me when I went to ship a kit to a UK buyer yesterday. They are absolutely crazy in the price they quoted to ship his package.

I am down to two pairs of shift cables in stock (I have enough attaching parts to make at least 20 more kits) and will be ordering 5 more pairs when the next pair sell, but that most likely will be the end of production.

A friend has been "visiting" and helping me with my car projects but he has a life and family of his own and has projects of his own so I can't keep asking him to run over when I need a hand.

I know the kits I offered were never "cheap" but I wanted to provide a "one time only" solution to bad cables and I improved on the Bob B. design without having to steal anyone's money and disappearing into the dark of night without ever actually supplying the paid for parts.

If anyone is interested in one of my kits, this is probably my last call. If enough of you still want a kit at one time, I might be able to get a better price from my cable supplier and I can pass that on. I can't compete with the SJs cables since they are completely different in design, quality and performance to what I have been supplying and there is no Short-Shift potential for his cables (at this time).

I appreciate all of the owners that have purchased my cables and there has not been a lot of room to find discounts when buying components in small quantities.

If anyone has wanted a kit but put off ordering until absolutely needed, I am worried I might not be able to supply a replacement if life keeps kicking me as it has been recently.

If you want a kit, order it now. If I get enough orders to reach a better discount level for the cables (25 pairs), I will pass on the discount. It won't be a huge discount, but $10.00 per pair is better than none.

Regardless, I would like to make sure I have thanked everyone that has purchased my kits. It has been fun sourcing. designing and building things that have helped other M100 owners keep their cars functional.

Please let me know if a cables and short-shift kit are still on your "want list" so I can be ready to provide what you want. Please order soon. I don't want to disappoint anyone if I reach the point I can't work anymore.

All I can say it's that John is exceptionnal in terms of services and quality of his short shift kit. I was really impressed byt he whole thing, even by the packaging... I've done quite a few customs parts for my others cars and it involved a lot of time doing so.

Again, what an exceptionnal kit and this is also all related to the nice person of BCN. If you're still on the line thinking about getting a kit, go ahead, it's maybe not cheap, but it worth every single penny !

I just received 6 more pairs of base cables and am starting to assemble them for the future.

I will keep making kits until I run out of the fabricated adapters and parts.

I am sure I can produce at least 20 more kits before I either have to do more machining or revert to short-shift kits only (I made a LOT of those parts when I was feeling better).

The US Buyer cost for the $200.00 insurance option has gone up a bit so I added the $5.00 to the most recent price posting which is now $645.00 for the cables, short shift kit and $200.00 insurance.

The US Buyer price for the complete kit with $695.00 insurance is $655.00.

The BCN Shift Cables and Short Shift kits are solid and make such a needed improvement, I wouldn't drive without them.
I've had them for six (6) years now.
It's disappointing but not surprising Lotus didn't have a guy like BCN on their staff.
The investment has given much pleasure over the years and 40k miles
What's the sense of a manual without a smooth solid mechanical means to enjoy.
