Dorman boot with bailcast duraboot / nitoma tool cone

Postby tigerdog » Fri 25.09.2009, 02:05

We just finished this task on one of my front boots. The job was made considerably easier by cutting down the cone so the boot only had to stretch far enough to go over the Lotus joint. The Dorman boots are a VERY tight stretch over the cone. One boot tore during installation and we had to call in the United States Marine Corps to actually push the thing on. Literally - the only guy with enough muscle to force the small end over was a Marine with biceps the size of Buicks. If there is a next time, I'm forking over the $135 for the air-operated expander tool.
