What's involved in fitting a limited-slip differential?

Hi,
I have run across a limited-slip differential that's available and I'm thinking of buying it because I'm going to start autocrossing my M100.

What's involved in fitting it? Do you have to pull the engine?

Also, in another post on LEC someone mentioned that an LSD will cause understeer. Seems that could be counterproductive.

Can anyone offer the benefit of their experience?

It's a big job, you need to drop te trans and split the case but the engine can stay in place. I have
one to install over the winter myself.

For autocross, these no bigger improvment then a Quaife. You won't really feel a differance in grip but
you will feel it off the corner big time!

Be sure to read the manual, there are some shift interlock pins that need to go back the right
way..

Speaking of the manual, is there somewhere I can get paper copies of the manual(s), including the one on closed loop operation?

I got the downloaded version of the scanned manual a while ago and (a) it's illegible on my windows machine and (b) each page has some obtrusive watermark on it.

Just my 2p but when you replace the diff buy a new speedo ring gear and all new driveshaft seals. Might as well do them all while it's apart. The ring gear also has a nasty habit of breaking while trying to remove it from the OEM diff. Better to just buy new and forego the headache.
