I recently had the same problem with my NA and saved a great deal of money with a precision made "bridge" which keeps the cables in place and allows full gear change operation. It cost a lot less than new cables and retains the existing cables. See pic. If anyone is interested please contact me through the forum. All custom made by highly skilled WRC rally engineer! A very tidy and cost effective solution. Fiddly to fit but the whole replacement sage is fiddly.

Hi,I think you should sit down before reading further.
If you go for the Lotus cables prepare to take out a second mortage. You cannot buy one cable they are no longer available, you have to buy two. I wont tell you the price I hate to see a grown man cry.
But all is not lost, contact Brit-Car -Nut he is supplying cables far cheaper than Lotus and much better, I will let him tell you the cost of the cables.
Ade.

Did the physical cable break or did the plastic housing break at the retaining ring?
There are several repair solutions for the housing breakage issue including this one:

On driving my Élan back from the garage (MAP sensor failure)I find out that they broke the cross gate cable during the test drive. I've taken it out and the picture shows where the cable has broken at the gear box end. Any suitable repairs possible, or is it a new set of cables? Is there a general consensus about which replacements are best / easiest to fit?

Sorry, don't seem to be able to add a photo. The break is in the cable as it enters the end bar. I imagine it's new cables but if there is a fix it'll save a few bob!
