Driveshaft moves with wheel off, engine running, in neutral

Hi,

I was just going to check the timing and found that the driver's side driveshaft was moving when the engine was running but the gearbox in neutral? This doesn't seem normal to me, what could be causing it?

Will,

I had a similar query when my brakes failed last year. Brit-car-nut allayed my concerns wiyh the following:

"Yes, the hub will spin when the engine is running and the gearbox is in neutral. The input gear is getting power and the close fitment of the other gears and heavy oil induce sympathetic motion. Be careful. It can hurt if you get tangled up in the moving parts."

So it's normal, don't worry!
