Yes, but I go back for a couple of days several times a month. Too bad it can't all be done in one visit...

Actually, the new drugs are working very well and I am just going back for tests and doctor visits. It is part of being in a trial. They collect volumes of data while trying to get the drug approved for everyone.

My Dad was on a trial for a couple of chemo treatments; it is clear that the medical field and patients really benefit from the shortcut that this offers.... :D

Yes, I have a few kits assembled and could be shipped in a day or two.

Is it easy/hard? That depends on your DIY skills. It is more frustrating than hard since you need to feed the cables through the chassis, out into the engine bay and around to the gearbox.

That is easier if there ate two people working together, one in the car and one under the car or reaching into the engine bay behind the intake manifolds.

It also requires taking apart the interior enough to get to the shifter and the chassis tunnel.

I am sending you a PM.

I can thoroughly recommend Brit Car Nut's short shift and cables; makes a big difference to driving the car. My local garage fitted them for me and they took 3 hours and charged £121 including VAT. They aren't Lotus specialists so that may give you a good idea how much your mechanics should be charging you. They said the job was quite straightforward with no problems.

Kits are now available.
I am hoping that replacing your cables will be a winter project for some of you.

Thank you for all of the support over the last years.

I still do them is small batches, so if you want to get a set, order early, as it takes a couple of weeks to get the bare cables made up.
Please use the link in my signature for the current prices

The "Retail" price for these is much higher, so asking your repair shop to buy a set for you only increases your final cost.

Also, most repair shops don't want to add the Short-Shift kit (to keep their outlay as low as possible), so it is most prudent for LEC members to buy directly from me to get the best price for the cable and short-shift kits.

If anyone is hoping to do the upgrade over the winter, I will be undergoing a lot of medical tests and procedures from December / January until everyone is convinced my "newest" cancer test results have been fully addressed, so I might not be available to quickly fill any orders. Please order soon if you want a kit.

I also have a hip that seems to be failing and that will keep me out of the workshop for extended periods of time.

I have just updated and clarified the shipping cost options for shift cable kits.

The price with less insurance is still valid but the price with full insurance is a bit safer.

As I noted, in the last SEVEN (7) years, only TWO (2) kits have gone missing but were located and delivered a bit late.

Just a "head's up"...

For anyone that might be considering a cable kit, I will be unavailable June 12 to June 15 and then June 25 until around July 10 due to medical tests and surgical solutions.

I currently have 3 sets ready to be packed and shipped but after those are gone there will be a delay before I can get back to work and make more.

Thanks,
John C.

Is anyone still interested in the shift cable with short-shift kits?

Have most cars been upgraded? Has the other available cable kits become the preferred solution?

I would love to get some input as to any demand since I will be unavailable for a while later this month.

I will continue to make kits but the the kit price will have to increase as component costs go up when I order lower quantities. I don't want to end up with a lot of left over bits.

I have been ordering enough components to be able to make 25 kits at any time, but demand has been very slow for a while and I need to try to avoid ending up with a lot of excess pieces that I can't return. It isn't like the parts are usable anywhere else.

Is anyone is seriously considering or "saving up" to buy a kit. As the population of M100s continues to decrease, it might be time to put this offer to bed.
