The GM part number for that is 94122375 and the Isuzu part number is 8941223750. It was used on a LOT of US cars that used the Isuzu gearbox (GEO, Cavalier, Century, Skyhawk, Regal to name a few). If you can't find any over there, I can post you a used one from a GEO gearbox if you cover the postage. If you want me to email you a full list of US cars that used the same/similar gearbox, I can do that too.

Dave, that would be great. I suspected that I could get all gears without this safety feature but I just don't trust myself AND definitely NOT Stevo ;)

Morciii - I didn't get your PM but my mailbox was full so it might have bounced. There's space now
Rambo - I thought we were camping in YOUR garden in the summer? Start organising it
Dave - Your cables are still in my boot, just in case of emergencies! Hopefully see you at Rambo's M100 party in the Summer and you can get them back - it looks like my cable fix works ok.

Just a point of grammar: if "youse" appears as the subject of a sentence, the objective form should be "ye" or "yiz", not "you". No doubt just a typo.

point taken, yiz would be the correct vernacular in wedgie sentence construction.

Archie, Rambo being a borders hill-billy refuses to join faeces book as he calls it. Plenty of LEGS banter he is missing out on, busy chasing wooly sheep with his wooly head

Scott,
sorry to have been so pedantic, but to use the quote from the Scottish language tutor in The Last Emperor "if we don't say what we mean, how can we mean what we say".

Dave,
We'll get you speaking Weegie yet. For those occasions when your son is not available to translate, I recommend a short course of Parliamo Glasgow from the excellent Stanley Baxter : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TfCk_yNuTGk .

I don't have a problem. Think Geordie with a speech impediment.

finally it's all back together again.
I wasted a bit of time when I forgot to put the washer back on the reverse light switch. No reverse gear again! Nearly stripped the selector box back down again :(
It's great to get the elan back on the road!
thanks for all the help and especially Dave who's due a fair bit of good Karma.
