Hi All,
my new lotus appears to want to crunch/does crunch into 5th gear. If i'm very gentle with it i can avoid it, and if i double clutch i can avoid it.
There does appear to be a fair amount of movement in the shifter when it is actually in 5th gear.
So the question really is, are these cars prone to selector rod/link/joint/bush problems?
If so can someone point me in the direction of replacement parts?
much appreciated
Steve

I have a slight crunch when changing down into 3rd (but never up).
Fresh oil prevents this for me. Every 2 years is sufficient.

Also check if the nut from the 5th gear is still in position. They tend to loosen up.
Check and re-torque this when you change the oil. You only need to remove the transmission cover for this.
Good luck!

Good call, HJ2. That would be my "must check". Andrew Ennis had this problem on his Medina Élan. If left unchecked, I guess it can only get worse and more expensive. Worth checking for peace of mind.
