Guys,
Not sure if you'll be able to help here, but here goes....
I'm having to sell my Elan as I'm expecting a new arrival to my family. As my luck would have it the gear change cable has just given way. My trusty mechanic has told me that part will cost £160 plus VAT and suggested that only the one cable was needed (Part No G B100 F0030F). Having seen the posts on here about AB cables I'd head in this direction if I was keeping the car but as my budget is super tight I need to oget it road worth with the least possible cost.
Can anyone suggest the cheapest way of doing this? I know that cheap isn't good but given my predicament I' just need to sort it asap
Many thanks in advance,
Mark

Your mechanic is right. If you're on a budget and getting rid then a single standard cable is the way to go. But if you approach SJ Sportscars then I think you can get the cable £20-30 cheaper than that.
Striking fear into the hearts of duplicate posts everywhere...!

Neil

I've four O/E cables in the garage of which at least two of are buggered.
Which gears have you lost?
This will indicate which cable you need.
Once you have posted on here which one of the two you need maybe someone can describe the cable that you need. (the ends are different, but I can't remember which is which). Then i'll have a check if I have one. Sods law will say I don't have the one you want
I'll be back online friday.

Guys,
Sorry for the delay in replying, I've spoke to the mechanic who has tried to cinfirm (in laymans terms) the cable I need. Apparently it is not the cable that shifts left to right (moving the arm up and down) but the one that places the car in gear from 1-5. I'm not sure that this helps, the only other information I had was the part number as mentioned in my original post.
Many thanks once again,
Mark
