DIED GEARSHIFT!!!!

Hi guys, yesterday, on the road I have met a gray 2001 MG...But its owner annoyed to me, it was attacked to my tail, it played the horn and flashed to me… So I had to punish it!....BUT....

After to have humiliated it, and ready to slow down, the gear lever seems dead, it moves freely but the gear it is remained in third. I have controlled cables and they are not broken.
What can be happened?

classic shifter cable failure -- i think it's the linkage at the gearbox end that you have to examine to see the failure

Luca, I did exactly the same except it was a TVR Lost all gears (well stuck in 5th) and tried to make it look as though i couldn't be bothered as I coasted to a halt As doug has said its your gear linkage cables for defo.

Thanks guys, fortunately weren't nothing of serious, had lost one "outer cable clip". Resolved problem!!!

That was lucky. At least now you know how it feels if you break one. A good lesson I think.
