Ooooh looook.......no bids yet at a £3k start!

.... a bargain at £5k BIN ......

.... if you want to risk that sort of cash on 3 pictures of a car, with no detail in the well-worded (if you are a 5 yr old with English as a second language) advert.

(okay, so there are actually 4 pics of the car, but one is so poor as to be discounted, and 2 pics of paperwork).

However, it is a 'project' at best, and a breaker at worst (so has *some* value) looking at the body damage and the fact it has been off the road for a couple of years, it is maybe NOT a £5k car..... unless values are on the way up steeply, and I'm the one out of date.

Last MOT'd back in 2011 (under that reg number), paperwork shows a different index plate which is currently on a Mitsubishi L22 truck so MOT info not useful), VIN number visible and decodes as a 1990 RHD UK car - number 6212 ... which seems high for a 'G' plate, but maybe I'm wrong on that one.

All in all, it looks like an 'end of life' vehicle more than a 'ready for the Summer' car - no doubt salvagable by someone with the inclination, but not a simple job.

(Oh, and the sellers' feedback doesn't inspire confidence in me - but maybe I'm just a tad cynical)

I'm with you on cynical, Dave. Advert says "This car is not been used in 2 year and need recommissioned." This is very true but DVLA says "No MOT. Expired: 23 June 2012" so we'll shortly be on 6 years... strange to just forget the 4 years before the 2..
Not used for 2 years and it would be a case of search the paperwork for when cambelt changed; not used 6 years and don't bother, just needs new cambelt before firing up.

Mileage says "101000" miles. At MOT in June 2011 it was 101,929 miles so I think 102000 would be more honest...

6212 was one of 46 built during April 1990, so that seems OK . M100 production quantities

Phil,

Thanks for the link to production numbers - I couldn't find it, and was going on 'best memory' - which suggested to me that the chassis numbers started at 6001 not 6101.... and thus it was far too late in the production run to be a 'G' plate :bonk: :bonk:

I wouldn't touch that dog with Geoff Smith's bargepole

Looks like it has spent quite a bit of time in Scotland judging by the sheaf of Murray Motors invoices (ex Edinburgh Lotus dealership) And it obviously still lives in Scotland as the literate seller lives in Glesgae. Looks like its currently at a dealer ?? Either that or its sitting in a scrap yard

My Elan m100 na is now for sale .
Fellow lec member told me to put it on here and here it is.

Well at least it has sold this time. I look forward to another NA joining the club. Point them in my direction if they need any assistance . Must have been a pretty keen bidder they had 3 bites at it and double bid themselves on the last go.

Be sure to mention LEC so they can get your old car back to its former glory.
All the best to you too .

gmacz,
really sorry that you didn’t make more on the sale. It was worth more. Somebody got a bargain. But I guess that’s ebay.

And it's down £500.......

..... so by November (if it keeps getting relisted with suitable price drops) it may be worth a look at.

Never understand when somebody says something like 'strong engine' - or 'strong engine and box' - how do they know ?

This car is now for sale at UK Sportscars for a smidge under £16,000. That's some mark up

Not a lot, looking at the MOT failure sheet from October 2017........

(Paint looks good though - no runs visible in that lacquer  )

Hood looks a tad slack, seats don't look too great, wrong wheels......

Wouldn't think it is worth the price he wants (and that's being kind) - it might upset him, but turn up with 2 bags of sand and see how much he wants to get rid of it.....

I assume this is a scam:

https://m.ebay.co.uk/itm/Lotus-Elan-Tur ... SwW8RbB0Z6

It was listed a few weeks ago and then taken down within an hour. If it is taken down then it’s the ‘last Elan to leave Hethel” preproduction Silver on a “P” plate.
