Personally, I would stick a years MOT on it to effect a speedier sale

And show the no. plate so a potential purchaser can check the MOT history

A agree with the above . I personally think hiding the plate means you have something to hide.
Any buyer will now want to check the history. Stick 12 months on it .

In its favour . Low owners .This is a quite high priority for me.
Service history .

Good luck with your sale.
Jim Clark S2 - 1/12. The one with the Yellow spoke wheels . No 613 on dash (pushed in to factory in wrong order 615 on tub)

You could also cut and paste details and put on LEC. There might just be someone who looks here first rather than AT, Pissedonheads, Car and Classics etc...

The 12 months MOT may or may not help - it has got the stautory 'Covid-19' extension to 8th December anyway, so will see a new buyer through to the SORN season!!!

Hi,
Does anyone know anything about the 1991 Blue Elan(59k) on Autotrader £5950.
The car is for sale in Camberley.
It has been for sale in Autotrader for a long time, no MOT, and a cracked windscreen.
Cheers,
Bay

It always troubles my OCD when people don’t put the front indicator / sidelight clusters back on the right way round, but this one is a whole new level...

Whilst the one linked to is just a lack of attention, to address the first 'complaint' it should be mentioned that early Elans had the lights one way round, and later ones the other way round...... blame the UK Government for changing the Lighting Regs to give different dimensions from the corners of the vehicles for indicators.... the easiest way to comply was to simply flip the units round.

Every day is a school day. I would consider myself a bit of an Elanorak but that is a new one on me. I've had 2 S2's (94 and 95 registered) and both had the indicators 'inboard' of the sidelights. Any time I've seen an Elan with the indicators on the outside it has correlated with those cars having had a front end respray, and therefore I assumed the clusters had been refitted upside down...

It's one of those things which (when you look at photos of early cars), they are sometimes one way, sometimes the other..... Later ones are all the 'right' way round, many early ones have been flipped (as it looks better!).... Euro ones are mixed dependant on market, Fed ones tend to be the 'wrong' way round.

The parts book (V6) shows them the 'right' way round - but for all markets - so I can't even say that my reasoning is completely accurate, other than knowing that the Lighting Regs required that the indicators can be seen from 15 degrees away from the 'straight on' view both horizontally and vertically - and in one orientation it didn't easily comply.... but then the rules changed, so they could fit them either way round, and the 'right' way looks better.

For me it doesn't matter - I've got clear lenses :D
