I did ask him the question regarding the mirror

reply
"No the mirror has no lights under it like the newer s2, l can not see any marks on the screen or mirror that would surgest its been changed, but this is a posibility. I have a friend with a '92 s2 that has the lights you mean so i understand your point."

Welcome,

I guessing if you're looking at this car you must be localish to Alton..

I'd Gather as much information here on the LEC before you look, but when you do........ you could tie the trip in with a visit to the H&C Southern area meet. They have a wealth of knowledge that's second to none...The Guys and girls are very welcoming...

As for the price, it's all about condition and I don't know this car...

Don't forget about Donny, the ideal place to see what's avilable and what your money can buy...

How about:

Item no: 250370397971

"Red lotus elan convertible 1991. no mot. the bodywork on this car is excellent. it has a new engine which cost over 6000 pound and has only done 1000 miles. it has part service history. the roof is missing as someone stole it. the interior is damaged including the dashboard and the speedometer is missing. the rear lights are missing. although it has an alarm an immboliser they are not fully functioning. i am reluctant to sell as i wanted to spend some time on the vehicle but due to lack of time i am unable to do this. it is a nice drive but at the moment it is a NON RUNNER. pictures will be added later in the auction."

In Sheffield.

rear lights stolen????

what a clever theif ..

non runner ? after spending £6000 how is that possible.. i rebuilt my engine at a heavy cost of £3500 ... so does the engine run? if not why tell me about £6000 its just another knackered engine that has probably been skimmed in your £6000 engine work so may now be beyond another skim tollarance ... so its now a lump with salvageable parts attatched to it......

thats like saying pre damage A1condition .... it now battered.....

end of rant...

nope back off again...

they also stole the roof?
this is one clever theif...

turbo or na?
mileage?

£700 breaker??????

another 1 bits the dust.

The feature that made me laugh was the immobiliser.

Sounds like the last thing it needs !!

All,

The Sheffield car (ebay item 250370397971) is quite 'interesting'. I drive past it every day, and am aware of some of the history surrounding its present condition and situation. I can say, without any fear of contradiction, that it's been sitting outside a boarded-up house for a considerable length of time. The description is quite correct, in that it doesn't have a roof (or any form of covering) and that various parts appear to be broken/missing. If anyone would like some more information on it, please PM me, as any other information that I have is purely based on my passing observations and on heresay/gossip so it would be completely unfair to discuss this on the open forum.

Cheers,

Martin.

I did think about this motor myself, but over a grand  seems expensive too me when the most valuable parts (apart from engine) have either been stolen or missing. :|

Clemo,

Serious answer.

At the VERY bottom end, the absolute sheds and donor cars remain buoyant, and unpredictable. If Will B's green one was worth £2,700, this one plainly isn't 'worth' £1,200, but at this level you're not buying a car, you're buying a screen, a bootlid, a bonnet, and an engine, plus whatever else is salvageable.

If an Elan is sold as a non runner, or without an engine altogether, I'm always stunned by how much they go for.
