Calypso Red SE Turbo £3750 Now with Pictures **SOLD**

Postby pjw12 » Thu 31.12.2015, 16:24

Sadly the time has come to sell petite rouge, I have owned and loved her for 5 years, but a 1 year old child, a company Lexarse, and living in central London mean I have rarely turned a wheel in the last 18 months.

H120 GJO was the second Elan I owned, following on from a flakey cheep pacific blue one which was a toe dipper in to Lotus ownership. She has been all around Europe on a 10 day 2500 mile road trip, been to Le Man, the N'ring and Sneterton all with out (major) incident. Truthfully, she has never let me down.

1990 Elan SE Turbo in Calypso Red, Leather interior, dark gray bolsters with solid red centers, not the normal 'strip' style
102,000 miles on the clock
MOT till October 2016, passed without incident
B service to be carried out in the new year
Cambelt and water pump replaced 2014
Massive wallet of history
Everest chip, closed loop system (O2 sensor installed)
Full Piper 2.25 system with second silencer, really nice sound with out feeling your a chav, fitted 2013
Vectra / Saab front brake upgrade (nice stong feel to them compared to the standard brakes), Standard road pads and £130 mintex race pads supplied
Short shift gear linkage
17'' OZ superligera alloys, might not be to everyone's taste but I like them, doesn't adversely effect the ride too much
Shower Cap roof cover
Various box of spares with headlamps, a rear hub carrier, switches ect.

Bad bits -
Roof is ok and generally water tight - there are a couple of repair patches in the normal wear points above the B pillar area
top lacquer coat is peeling in places, base coat is fine, most noticeable on the sills and bonnet, n/s/f wing has a few cracks in the gel coat
o/s window needs a bit of love, motor and cables are fine, I suspect the guides on the glass are loose as it rattles and some times needs a little hand to close if you drop it all the way down, should be easy to fix, but I haven't had time to attend to

Still have her, Hidden from the wife in my works garage, currently having its headlamp motors refurbed and an MOT, looks like she has only covered 15 miles inbetween MOTs. now up to 2 kids and zero time to drive my little red rocket. Happy to see it go to a good home,

Still available, she had been garaged over the winter, just got her back out on the road. Love driving her but just don't have the time to use it.

Just trying to recover my lost youth ...
elan1cdge.JPG

the one that came back with a pink behind. (Cap d'Agde has a nudist beach so lots of bits come back pink :-D ).

Actually ... just a possible interim solution. Gave L100 'a lot of wellie' to overtake some traffic and noticed revs and speedo got out of sync and then there was the smell of hot clutch plate. Still got a commitment to go to Slough Monday, back Thursday, till end of August and not sure it will last till then. Swapping back to the OE ECU might help a bit...

I'd use the SORN PB SE if the cambelt from Rock Auto wasn't still in the box ... :bonk: and the Subaru is on the drive with the engine back in but still too many bits still in the garage ... I'm now legally entitled to use the Plus 2 (now MOT exempt so I just got free Road Tax) but the new sills are not fitted so I'm resisting using that.

If that’s your lost youth, I wouldn’t bother trying to find him.
But the London car seems worth a look.

P.S.: And since when did Rambo have a Bond St address? Maybe he could give it the once-over for you.

Replied to your PM Phil.

Forgot to update my profile, car is now based in Woking.

Since getting her out of the garage a couple of weeks ago and fitting a new alternator (old one seized over the winter) while I was 'inbetween' jobs she's covered a good 400 miles taking me to interviews and generally hooning around. Mechanicaly sound and would be fine as a daily driver.
