So.. are you going to buy it?
BTW I'm not a fan of cloth seats, and I won't swoon over crack free rear lights.

What's wrong with it ? (- apart from BRG & N/A ..

) Why doesn't anybody want to drive it? 26 years old and done 15k miles, that's ridiculous ..
MOT is interesting ..
Advisory notice item(s)
Rear Exhaust corroded .. no surprise there if OE.
Nearside Rear wheel bearing has slight play (2.6.2) Can't be worn in 15K, probably just adjusted as per the Manual..
Offside Rear wheel bearing has slight play (2.6.2)
Phil
Leave me alone, I think I know what I'm doing.
Cars: Subaru Forester 2.5XTN, Eclat Riviera, brace of Pacific Blue SE's, Collapso SE, Elan+2S.... and now an Evora

"cheap" is a very subjective word

Been to see this the other day . Its in my opinion a corker . New hood and seals . fantastic crack free back lights . Galvanised rear wishbones
I know this was posted some time ago but I went to view this one at MMC on Saturday, bit new to the Elan scene and always fancied having one nearly bought one a few times but always walked away. This one to me looked good few items missing or need repairing but nothing major except the left light was too close to the bumper so wouldn't open fully got jammed against the front, do I take it adjusting the light pod position is a relatively easy job i.e. some adjustment on the brackets?
Owner said it would go through his workshop but not sure how good his workshop would be with this looking at his other stock (Range Rovers etc.)
Didn't drive it yet needed to do some checking before getting too serious on price but think it might be a good one!

Yes there is plenty of adjustment on the light pod, slotted holes in brackets and shim/washers, so sounds like a relatively easy fix
*.
You might be surprised at the amount of washers that are used to align various parts of the bodywork.
* Please be warned any fix of any kind on a Lotus Elan usually leads to number of other fixes being required, AKA Project Creep!

Thought there must be some adjustment so thanks for that will keep this one in mind as it did look like a good one, have another one to look at as well before deciding just need to see if I can get the price down a little.
Having owned a couple of older cars before and with my Sons Starion I am aware how one small job grows and have no illusions that an Elan will be any different, in fact I am expecting it to be much worse!

The "eagle eyed" amongst you may have noticed that this thread has lost some recent content.....
... if you haven't missed it, then no problem.
...... if you wonder where the words of wisdom have gone (from Kriss and Jim), then rest assured that there is a valid reason for it, and if you want to ask me privately, I may tell you.
Failing that, theyt aren't really "gone" forever, as I still have a copy and the information contained may well make a reappearence in future, if relevant and necessary.
Just to state the obvious, LEC exists as a resource for ALL Elan owners, past, present and FUTURE - so the info may well be needed by someone looking to purchase a particular vehicle (to see if anything is being witheld by the seller).

Looks very nice. The no. plate looks familiar - I'm thinking Muley ???? - in which case it will have been well fettled and looked after. I'm sure Jim has had a BRG J*** GAP amongst the dozen or so he has owned over 15+ years

If not Jim, then it has been owned by someone in LEC who has been around a long time as it has a "Dave Myers" ltd. ed. of 50 oil filler cap. That group buy was >12 years ago
