Preferred idea for the Record attempt

Be good now, vote to make Stef happy :D

Can we reach a decision by say 25 Nov? Then Stef can draft a GBoR proposal to be posted and agreed.

Yeah, like a lap in each of the cars as a passenger then boot her out into the next one.

Now how did I know things would turn cheeky

How's about I get to drive each Elan a lap round the track :burnout: :-D

Sensible suggestions will be considered.

Cjay - I'm sure if you were considering bringing your Elan over we would do all we can to help. However I'm also quite sure it'll prove too costly and complex  I'm sure there will be good film and photo footage to share though.

As commented on the general GBoR thread, track use will be limited. Don't expect fun high speed shenanigans as there are too many liabilities involved. :?

If a relay is possible expect short distances at a slow pace. It won't be a timed event. Sorry folks.

Any opportunities taken for sneeky lap burns will not be held responsible by myself or LEC! But of course as we are all sensible folk and that wouldn't happen...

Let me contact Hethel again with ideas so far and see if they can start to set parameters of use.

Suspect the Mexican wave record would last longer, simply because you need pop-up headlights to do it; but lapping Hethel would be much more fun, if we can have the track for long enough.

Presumably insurance/marshalling considerations would preclude it being against the clock, so we're looking at the number of participants, not the number of laps?

I'm guessing that "most lotus cars on a race track" isnt good enough?

Number of Lotus on a track would more so invite other Lotus cars and could make easier to be beaten. The Lotus parade GBoR record was done last year at Bruntingthorpe so I expect that would superceed similar attempts.

I think we definately want to discourage any 'cheeky lap burns' as we don't want to p**s Lotus off - and also they may chuck us out there and then

Hmmmm, "Biggest Mexican Wave of one make of cars with pop-up headlights" how could GBoR refuse!!!
Hey, and if it ends up being in the summertime, I'll be over again in July ;)
Can you pack an Elan as hold luggage???

well now that the Corvette has changed lights, there are no more new cars here in the US with pop-up headlights -- thus this record would be harder to beat as time goes on!!

You can count me in please. The factory is a brilliant visit - i`ve been twice. Last time was the 50th anniversary celebration for Team Lotus in 2004. I hope the weather is better than it was then - it rained all day. The parking is quite good, they normally let us park along one of the entrance roads next to the test track, leading up to the factory. I`m for the headlight mexican wave.

How come the poll suggests people fancy the mexican wave idea!? I didn't think people would go for that.. it's kinda kooky, but the car is meant for 'drive'ing isn't it?? I say we drive 'em right into the GBoR, in their own inimitable way... that's gotta be more interesting to tell your grandchildren about!! :D
