3 records

Postby Stef » Wed 15.02.2006, 14:12

These are the 3 record attempts I plan on submitting:

Largest gathering of M100 Lotus Elans

Longest colour co-ordinated convoy of M100 Lotus Elans

Largest Mexican wave of pop up car headlights

I know the convoy will mean some more serious organising but we all know it is achievable. I suggested we keep it going for 1 mile at least. I'm not sure where we will stand if the general public interfere which is why the 1 mile should be manageable.

Anyone got any comments?

Any other ideas?

there must be a section of motorway somwhere thats got miles and miles between 2 junctions....and on a sunday morning......
its gonna have to be the fast lane or the slow lane.....no middle dithering!!!
I'd prefer the fast lane myself but it depends on the 'snake'

M4 J14-15 or 15-16 or 16-17 (can't remember which is quite a long stretch), probably a bit too far south for a lot of people though.

I think the convoy would have to be formed in the inside lane and move to middle or outer once formed.

Inside lane would probably be better, we could go quite slowly in order to savour the experience :)

Time will play a slight factor as we would need to be at the show fairly early to ensure we have the reserved space.

I am hoping for further co-operation though so we could possibly gain more time to play with.

We can certainly look into a motorway convoy though.

Anything which can be planned well should become possible!

Well, here is a little update for y'all.

The lovely people at GBoR have decided they won't, at this stage, accept the convoy as a record attempt worthy for their book.

Still, this sure the hell aint gonna stop us having the fun of doing one! :-D

Input is required from fellow LECers here as we still have time to submit other ideas. However, I need ideas to then be given a general yay or nay to make sure all participants will be happy to do the idea.

Think outside the box people!

I'm still waiting for their decision.

We should get at least one accepted!

They have also denied our 'largest gathering'!

Instead they are suggesting we do a 'parade'. This will however involve the need of a track.

When I have time, and I'm frikkin bogged under with stuff at the mo, I will sweet talk Club Lotus and see if they can pull weight with a request to Donington Track.

If accepted I am firly certain there will be some sort of cost involved. We can find out from there whether it will be a cost effective option. I don't want money putting people off from taking part.

Just got the Mex Wave to wait on now...

Donington track hire is about £12,000 IIRC.

That's not each Ailwyn! :-D

If only we could use the runway at work - 1½ mile blast to the end and group photos with Concorde .... Sorry, just a little dream of mine. I promise to be more sane and rational in future, just a bad dose of Elan fever.
