@ sideways
perhaps since you're posting a lot of M100's for sale, you might consider putting detail in the thread/title line
like:
red in Seattle
yellow in Texas
and so on
just a suggestion to focus on what folks are shopping for, especially for those searching for a specific color or location to buy one...

Incredible ! Says 42 miles from a US gallon, that's 50.4 from an Imperial Gallon. I've had 4 SE's and never got anywhere near that, I'm lucky to get near 30 from an Imperial gallon.

I thought you divided US gallons by 1.201 to get UK imperial gallons. That means 42 mpg (US) = 34.97 UK mpg.

That sounds better to me but is still fairly unrealistic. Soft right foot and maybe closed loop :D :D :D

I can easily average 32 mpg in my black one but 27-28 is more the norm in my yellow peril. Both SE's and both open loop and I don't hang about :burnout:

The US gallon is less than the Imperial gallon by virtue of the fact that a US pint is 16 fluid ounces instead of 20. Therefore the US gallon is only 16/20 ths or 80% of an imperial gallon.

It’s also why a beer in an American bar doesn’t feel like quite enough. Unless it’s something like this at 16 proof!

I know somebody who works at Avery. When he visited last year he brought some of their “specials”!

We didn’t get to try them all because one exploded in my beer cupboard. What a mess! But at least it didn’t go bang on the ‘plane over or he’d have probably been in the pokey!

But a US pint is 16 US fluid ounces which is ~4% bigger than an imperial fluid ounce so imperial gallons are ~20% (rather than 25%) bigger than US gallons and the curly one is correct.

You’re right of course, but the curly one divided the US mpg figure instead of multiplying. lfm’s 50.4 was OK.

... and that's before you consider whether it's a Whitworth gallon, hence you might need to take into account the bottle diameter instead of its cap! :poke: :-D

(probably a naive French question, but as for the spanner sizes, why did they chose to reduce the fractions? They could have chosen to let all in 1/32 or even 1/64 for instance, and even drop the denominator in the common language, and that would have been straightforward to sort? Anyway, I know I digress a bit, but I often think to that when I see the spanners hanging on the garage wall ^^)

By my understanding, a US Gallon is a tad less than a real Imperial Gallon, and when both are in a cylinder of 100mm diameter, the US one will be a smidgin lower than an English one.......

(This is using the BS Units of 'Tad' and 'Smidgin'..... not the Colonial version where 1 tad = 1/8th teaspoon..... anyway, we have different sizes of teaspoons here - and the bloody americans wouldn't know a propper cuppa anyway)
Dave

Just the one now, but this one's mine! - and it will be finished eventually.....

go on - click this link - you know you want to!

Just to get this back on track ...

My pristine white M100 is for sale - Delta BC Canada...you probably already know that - but here's the clincher.

I will fill the tank to the brim so that no one will have to calculate/convert from hexidecimal to PSI or whatever is being discussed here.

I'm here to help. :D
