http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayI ... MEWAX%3AITUg. Of course when I'm on a 2-year austerity regimen I have to be tempted by what seems like the perfect TR8. I've watched TR8 sales for a few years now and this particular non-molested, non-rusty, low-mileage 1981 example; meaning FI (not carbs), better gearing, and only 416 made VS 2375 1980 examples... is the closest to being "my" perfect TR8 I've seen in all that time. I wonder if the economy is making especially fine cars come up for sale? In other words, is this something I won't have the chance to buy again? Doesn't it counter logic to believe that low-mileage, "near-new" examples of old cars will survive year after year?
I bid $8k on the car last night when it was at $7399, partly because I just knew $8k wouldn't buy the car... which turned out to be right, thank God! Here are the other parts I'd "
have" to buy if I go crazy and purchase this car. Please don't tell me what it adds up to!

Here are pictures of what the Morspeedperformance front bumper/valance & rear bumper look like. I am not making the change for the looks, but for the weight reduction & where the reduction takes place, at the outermost, outside the wheelbase, most pendulous parts of the car. I'd shed 50lbs both front & rear. That's a hundred pounds, bub! I drove my last TR8 that way when I dressed it down (removed the bumpers) and drove it to the paint shop. That drive to the paint shop was a hoot. Not only did it accelerate faster but the front stopped rebounding because it never compressed as much going over bumps. In other words, the car handled much better.
Compare this Ferrai F355's grille to the following TR8 image. It looks like a copy right down to the driving lights.
