Goodwood today

Postby chris.t » Sat 03.05.2008, 19:28

Had a great day on track at Goodwood, made for the M100 IMO. If you ever get a chance get yourself down there. Only problem was my rear wheel bearings started throbbing away.

Monty, if LoT do one at Goodwood, i'll put you up to save expenses.

Will post a utube link later if the vid comes out ok.
Could the 'Hokey-Cokey' actually be what it's all about?

Chris i may just take you up on that offer one day, i could even camp out with the Chicks :-D

Glad you had a good day, lookforward to your vid

Just looked on LoT and there`s no dates for goodwood, IIRC think they were having the dreaded noise issues and may off kicked Goodwood in the head :?

May have to join you at the next one, was that with club lotus?

you're right about the noise they are strict but you will be ok. Maybe there's an easytrack or bookatrack available.

The thing is about goodwood is the corners are the type where you hold the lock and feed the power in - at the exit of the corners your foot is flat to the floor in 4th. Get it right and its magic. The understeer that plagues me on other tracks isn't so much of a bother.

The event i do with club Lotus is always booked up quick cos the places are offered to the people who went the year before and generally the places are always taken. However, if you put your name down and you end up as a reserve who doesn't get in then you are gauranteed an offer of a place for the following year. in other words it would be worth a try but it will be on year 2 of application that you get in unless there are a lot of people who drop out. Oh and the other thing is that you will have to be a member of Club Lotus if you're not already.

Chris,
The first (and only) track day I ever went to was at Goodwood about 17 years ago (before trackdays were in vogue).

I remember it being fantastic. Great weather and great cars (like D-types and sevens). My mate used to drive karts and had a 7 which he threw into the first right-hand corner out of the pits at a speed which amazed me. I thought he was just trying to impress me and was going to kill us. It went round just fine. :-D Better than the Countach which spun off in front of us and managed to flat-spot four very expensive very wide tyres.

I agree - looking back, those nice open corners round the back would be perfect for an Elan. How did it do round the chicane just before the pits?

Chicane was not a problem as long as you entered from the centre of the track. An Excel met the tyre wall out of that chicane today :? Madgewick, the first corner is a double apex, turn in and hold the lock, feed in the power and the Elan does the rest, magic.
