Yep, I agree August would be best. Another thing, once LOT sorts the price out for this Bedford trackday and has it listed on there site places will sell out quite quickly so u all need to make a decision and book early.
You will also need to join LOT to book the trackday, which i think Chris.t has a discount code.

Just got a reply back from LOT

"Hi Chris

Should get sign off in next 2 weeks now. We’ve had August bank hol for 4-5 years now.

I’ll make sure we ring fence plenty of places and get in touch when it’s time to go live."

So get your cheque books at he ready :)

Ok LOT have listed the bedford trackday for August and have invited us to come along. I have also invited LOT if they want to join us on the camping trip.

Bedford Autodrome GT - august bank holiday 27/8

27-8-2007

The 4th year running we've run a t/day at Bedford on August Bank Holiday weekend... we've now run more t/days at Bedford than ay other TDO who ran a day there in 2006.

Bedford is perfect for beginners and novice drivers as well as more experienced trackday drivers due to being the longest 'proper' circuit in the UK, plenty of safe run off also excellent visability all round the circuit.

We're inviting members of the Lotus Elan Central forum to join us on this day as well to give them a chance to visit Bedford as obviously it's the safest 'proper' venue in the UK.

** LoT Elise Trophy ticket offer!! **
Everyone purchasing this t/day by 1/3/07 will receive 1 free ticket to the opening round of the Elise Trophy on 24th March at Brands Hatch - extra tickets can be purchased at the discounted/sponsored rate of just £5 each when booking the trackday - tickets will be £12 on the gate. If you'd like to take advantage of this free offer please update the relevant box when booking - tickets will be sent by 1st class post by 10th March. Offer closes 1/3/07.

Directions & Accomodation: HERE
Length: 3.6 miles
Noise limit: drive by - 101 DB static & Drive By - 87dB at 20m
Format: open pit lane
Price: £150 until 1/6 then £170
Instruction: £10 for 1st or 2nd session booked, £20 for subsequent sessions
Crash Helmets: can be hired on the day for £20
2nd Drivers: limited to the first 15 people notifying us of a 2nd driver name*
Driving licenses = you must bring a full license which will be checked at sign on

* 2nd drivers - Bedford is the only circuit we have this policy due to the large number of 2nd driver requests here.

PLEASE NOTE BEDFORD AUTODROME IS A NON SPECTATOR VENUE. Due to the large number of specators who attended days with us at Bedford in 2003 & 2004 we have to limit each driver to 1 passenger or specator - exceptions can be considered please email us. Bedford is the only circuit we have this policy.

Monty you beat me to it, here's an email i've received from LOT

"Hi Chris

Got confirmation from MSV that I can go live on Bedford August Bank Holiday..

Details in LoT shop –

You can also say that you have negotiated free helmet hire and 1 free instruction session for all Elan owners taking part in the day."

I shall be joining LOT tomorrow and signing up for august b/h at bedford.

You know i thought it would be more than £150 cos they normally operate an open pit lane so you could be out on track all day

If the car will take it

no the car will make it but i wouldn't

Right joined and payed up for Bedford in August. With the LEC discount you get a tenner off membership (making £20) and a tenner off the track day (making £140) thats if you don't have the training session.

Read the stuff that Montys posted above, LOT are keen to see some Elans on track.

The trackday is defo on the 27 August which is the b/h monday. I think the plan is to make a w/e of it, staying at a local campsite. Weather permitting it should be a great w/e socially as well as on the track. The cost of the track day goes up 1/7 and i think that this will be a popular event so get in there quick is my advice. Don't forget to PM me about the discount code cos this will save you upto £20 which will probably pay for your camping fee :-D

I have called the campsite and they say that it does get very busy around august b/h so we will need to book our pitches sooner rather than later. You don't have to do the trackday if you don't want, just come down for the crack(sp?). A link to the site is above.

Can we start a list here of who wants to do the camping.

When there are few more names i'll warn the site that we want say 10 pitches. The thing is the more we are the less likely it will be to get our own area. It's all still very much in the air at the mo.
