I plan on doing the Club Lotus track day at Castle Combe again next year and would also be up for an LEC track day, ability to actually attend would be dependant on location and dates, Bedford is fine for me as a location.

Hi Guys,

Just skimmed this thread and picked up on a couple of things.

1. The noise limit at Bedford is inflexible, you get 1 strike then out. Unfortunately it violates their planning permission otherwise. You can get mufflers to put on the exhaust tip, maybe this could be a solution?

Some people find Bedford a little hard to get into - it's not like any other circuit in the country and has no reference points to pick up on. I'd certainly recommend instruction to get the best from the circuit (I know Mark at LOT is excellent).

2. Depending on the date / location I'm happy to provide free instruction for LEC members.

Also, Silverstone is an excellent alternative as like Bedford it's very hard to hit anything and the noise limit is much less restrictive when it's in operation. Anyway, if anyone wants any advice on trackdays in general or on a particular circuit I'm more than happy to help out.

thanks for that ajax317. i will be calling Mark in the new year to get the track diary which should be ready by then. I have done Bedford twice now and i know what you mean by references especially the second half of the circuit.

This is the reply from LOT. I guess what he's offering is a bit short notice but its there if you want it. Abbeville FREE!!! if you're free this w/e!!! Also check out the 17th March!!!!!

Hi Chris

The major circuits have only confirmed up until the end of Feb..

We should get March onwards dates confirmed in the next 2 weeks now..

I don’t know if any are interested but we have a day at Bedford next Saturday – 13/1..

If any wanted to attend it’s £99 but we’d be happy to give élan plus £20 back per car as are currently offering drivers £20 against a future Bedford day.

This is probably too short notice but worth mentioning.

Also if you have anyone who wants to test out Abbeville for your club they’d be more than welcome this Saturday FREE OF CHARGE – don’t mind if theres a few who wanted to do it.. again short notice and they would need to book a channel crossing via the tunnel which is about £50 return. If you need more info then just shout.

Cheers

Have you checked the noise levels from your rear end Monty - they may contravene the regs. My Peco sounds much louder than 105dB but I havent checked it out yet

We stayed at a site which is about 5 milles away. Its quite basic, showers were pretty grim so i hope they've spruced them up a bit. i'll have a trawl round the net for something a bit better in the meantime.

Incidently, August would be better for me cos of insurance mileage allowance (would have renewed by then) but it will be more expensive and it is a bank holiday and you know what the weathers like on BH's :x

Just had an email from Lotus on Track, the essential info is as below.

"To help you on the track day front – I’ve set up a discount code for LEC – if anyone wants to join – we do this for most other clubs… They will also get a free instruction session on their first track day with us – as long as they let us know when booking..

Bedford 6/4 – this is back on the full GT circuit after winter works… we’re charging £135 until 1/3 or until 40 places have been sold – happy to hold this at £135 for your guys but chuck in free helmet hire and obviously 1 instruction session – if you decide this is a good day for you to start… otherwise it might be worthwhile looking at a summer brands hatch evening."

If you want the discount code pm me and i'll send it to you.

There are 2 Bedford dates that i know of which are the 6/4 as stated above and one on the august b/h. Is there any interest in these dates so that we can get some general concensus and perhaps turn this into reality this time

\Just shows that LOT is worth joining, free helmet is a good offer as IIRC they charge £20 to hire.

Weather wise think we`ll have to go for the 27th August, is there anything else on around that date which it may interfer with? :?

So is you get the £10 discount on the membership?

Paul G was asking whether any progress had been made. I'm going to try and get to both of them as a LifeMember of LOT. Hope to see you there.
