A bit off a Sprint

Was down at Curborough Sprint Circuit today as there was an introduction to sprinting which was free :) (advertised on MLOC) Had a good day and not as easy as you may think, you got a couple of laps with the instructor in a road car then 2 laps in your own under instruction.

Love to compete next year but because the M100 is turbocharged it would end up with the big boys in there SC Elises/Exige

Here`s a bit of a vid

Monty,
Glad you had fun.

So is a sprint like a track day but with only one car out at once? How many laps do you get? Is it timed? In which case is your insurance valid (you're with Classicline aren't you?)?

I saw a similar Curborough event video recently. Looks like quite a short track. Still fun though?

I liked the Chimaera at the end. Lovely.

Hi John

The introduction i did today wasn`t timed and your insurance won`t cover it (although they might of done for a small fee for today) as they won`t cover timed events which you will need compitition insurance.

Sprinting very different from trackdays as it`s one car at a time and your against the clock, but you have to hit each lap perfect to get a good time as the instructor was saying 100th of a sec can make a difference

If you want to compete then sprinting & hill climbs is the way to go as it alot cheaper than Circuit racing.

1st is to Join a Sprinting Club which are about £10 to £20 and i believe you can take part in all other club sprints

You only need a Non Race National B licence which is £36, there`s no medical and it`s just a form to fill in and send off.

MSA approved Helmet and flame resistant overalls are required.

You don`t even have to do to much to your road going car, but i`m not sure on the tyre regs. But thats about it and the way you go :burnout:

Forgot to answer that one, when competeing it`s down to which Club is running the Sprint on that day, but most will be 2 practice laps and then 2 timed runs. The cost of Entry is approc £60 to £80+
