went to the Chicken and Hen Meet last week and we looked at a lap of the Ring. Which got me thinking - "which one was the fastest lap?"

so I went thro the many Gbytes of video and found this clear lap, but in trimming it down to one lap I have lost the sound?

It is a friend in Germany who has the system - he rents it out - so he had it set to K's so I just left it on that setting

I used to have a Renault 19 16V back in the day. It was one of the nicest cars I've ever driven. Not massively quick, but it had a terrific ride/handling balance. It looked great in Sports Blue, too - so much so that some little scrote nicked it.

The ring Marshalls wont like your bonnet pins and they have ben known to put noise meters on really loud cars.

Personally I prefer the harnesses to be attached to the harness bar on the roll cage at shoulder height rather than the floor - it is safer.

Also, be careful of the whole insurance issue - UK Insurers have to insure you 3rd party, but will come after you for the money if they have to pay out. I have heard a number of cases where this has happened and for large amounts :-(

Also lots of them are specifically excluding it from their policies - lots of good info on northloop.co.uk

best lap 10.35 with 2 sections on waved yellows and i was too kind to the millions of porsches and M3's on the track.
next time its "no more mr nice guy" , i will get out the way but you will have to be much closer and i will not compromise my corners either.
reckon i can get a sub 10.

good fun day out.
running toyo proxies. 29psi

need a swirl pot was loosing power going up the long back hill.

Texas ..
my mates wrote of their £10k M3 ..£800 track charge. and they inform your insurance company (or they call the police if you don't have insurance / or tell them who it is)
we got a silencer put in where the cat was ... it blew the baffles out of it on the way home , but for track we was ok on noise.
we did have to tape the pins over . no major problem.
really good fun day out .
the only problem was that as it was a tourist weekend the place was rammed. this mean't a lot of accidents and quite a few track closures.
i wasn't really racing , i was trying hard to improve my time , but not in a way that put me and dan in danger. our lap times went up due to so much traffic. It didn't really matter as we had a lot of fun. the 19 is a very forgiving fwd car. it drifts , slides and is easy to catch unlike the M3 , they were racing each other in the 9:28's.
Me and dan were equal on 10:33 / 10:35
my only small regret was jumping out the way to early for(what looked like) faster cars , and when they eventually got passed us they held us up .. i spent to long looking in my mirrors rather than doing my own thing...

going back in november.

it is very addictive :-) dont go chasing times - the road to an accident in my opinion............put a video camera in the car and analyse it after - you will find the times come down with practice and experience - also get passenger laps with more experienced people and look at their lines

yep , it is very addictive ..
and yep i wasn't chasing times as mine kept going in the wrong direction!
i have a fairly good idea where my big easy time was lost . as in waved yellows ( nothing i can do about that )
by jumping out the way for faster cars i was compromising my line in and out , then getting back up to speed.

i did play with smoother racing lines rather than straight lines and wheels facing forward rather than turning and the result was fun. even if in places it was a complete mess , the sliding and finding the edge of the grip was amazing. i would never have thought that tyres gave that much grip , far beyond where i thought the limit was. and when i went passed it (or what i thought was passed it ) it would just give and slide, not snap. seemed esay to pull back and continue on our merry way. time was not really that important however that said improvment on tme is alway pleasing.
might try casle coombe as it is close ish to us in Devon. My team mate dan has a racing licence and whist that doesnt make him a racing god his lines were good to watch . and without trying to blow my own trumpet ther was only 2 seconds difference between us ... that probably means he's rubbish too!.
