If it helps a bit, I've found a flight into BHX which lands at 1900 (Air France) - I suppose if you travel without a suitcase and I am waiting at the arrivals hall, we could still get you to the pub nearly on time.......
....Oh, and John, do you wish me to book it and I'll take the £345 in cash off you on the night

Dave
Just the one now, but this one's mine! - and it will be finished eventually..... - but also temporary custodian of a project until it is finished enough for Angie to drive it
...oh, and a 2006 Freelander destined for the jungles of The Gambia - 4500 miles across roads, desert and tracks - what could possibly go wrong?

Hey Dave,
There's three John's attending but only two will be there when you need to take the money so I'll leave it to them to sort out which 'John' you refer to!

Sorry John, I meant John - the one offering to pay for Geoffs flights (Fred!).

Martin,
If there is a financial penalty for failing to bring Angie i will happily reimburse you - it isn't reasonable to expect you to fund the non appearance (even if it is because YOU changed the date

).
Seriously, if the pub wish to keep the extra deposits and not credit them to the final bill, I wouldn't expect you to absorb the costs incurred for trying to assist the group to get a meal together.

It's a tad embarrassing though, same thing happened to me here when we first arrived, joined my old running/drinking buddies for a moonlit hash, promised the local taverna 30odd bodies only 15 stayed for the meal (a Meze, which was great incidentally) the restaurant had stayed open specially to cater for us though so we all ate and drank double quantities and left with doggie bags as well as subsidising the non attendees.
But these things happen.

Dave,
The sentiment is kind and well taken, but don't be daft

When did we ever let logic get in the way of a good moan!!
Geoff: am I keeping a space for you then?

Yep, I'm flying on the 23rd, if I'd known someone wanted to pay for it I wouldn't have jumped the gun & already booked it

True to my word I have acquired single tickets for you both this morning: I suffered computer failure yesterday. I have posted them off today so you should just about get them in time to leave on Tuesday. If they don't arrive, blame the excessive amount of post over the Xmas period.
Looking forward to Tuesday's dinner and the hope that Grace will not be the sole female present

Nearly 10 years since I first gate crashed the West Midland farmers and Aston Martin Owners Club meeting at
The Talbot.
Hope you had a good one. Sorry I couldn't make it - I was already in the UK but I thought it a little unfair to claim the air fare from John.

Just got home - no traffic on the motorway (well, not much).
Thanks to Martin for organising the 'do', and thanks to the Weatheroak for a great meal...... I have to say that the amount of cheese on the cheese board would put the display of many supermarkets to shame

A very enjoyable evening: good food and service from the Coach & Horses and usual good company.
Thank you Martin for the organising. Hope you all have a good festive season and see you in January on 21st I think!
