Xmas Lunch Booked

Postby NickHawk » Wed 14.11.2007, 23:33

Hello All

Christmas Lunch is arranged:

Venue:

The Royal Oak
Gosport Road
Lower farringdon
Alton
Hants
GU34 3DJ

Yes it the pub Chris sort of booked last year!

The pub has recently changed hands and is being run by a very experienced landlady (Georgie). The inside of the pub is going to be refurbished soon but it is clean inside. The restaurant is spotlessly clean, welcoming and comfortable. There will be one table arranged for all of us. I have booked a table for 10/12 persons. The food looks very good! The 3 course Xmas menu is £23.95

Xmas Menu is as folows:

Starters

Roasted Tomato and Basil Soup with croutons and chives
Potted game and ham with melba toast and grape chutney
Parsnip, walnut & rocket salad with feta with sherry orange and olive oil dressing

Main

Turkey, chenut stuffing, roast pots, veg, gravy, cranbery sauce
Brasied lamb shank garlic mash
Roast supreme of Salmon, new pots
Goats cheese and cherry tomato tart, new pots

Puds

Xmas pud (Homemade)
Chocolate and caramel cheesecake
Soft fruit pavlova

Coffee and mints

If you only want 2 courses this is not a problem although I did not ask how much this will knock off the £23.95.

The car park will be coned off in front of the pub for Lotus only parking.

I think you will find this is a good venue!! I need toi let them know what food everyone wants and how many cars will need parking bays.

So you know: Yesterday our return flight from Canada was cancelled and we cannot make the alternative they have offered. Unless we get other flights sorted in the next few days (which now looks unlikely) it may be that Lynne and I will also join in the lunch. I will obvioulsy need at least two parking bays due to the width of my cars doors!!

Please let me kniow if any of you have any queries with this booking and who is coming.

Regards

Not having been to one of these bashes before:

- Is it OK to bring 2/3 children along (ages 8, 13 and possibly 15)?
- If so, is it the same menu for them?

Hi Mark

Not a problem as far as I know/am concerned but I will need to check with the restaurant as I have booked a table for 12 (which we have now).

I am not sure if they do a kids menu, will yours be ok with the menu, see above posting.

Regards

Thanks. They'll be fine with that menu. If you could let me know whether they can squeeze in 2 adults + 2 children.

Hello Mark ett all:

No problem for the extra number,

They advise "That will not be a problem. We normally offer children the same option as the adults but smaller. If they want something different we can sort something out if they have any preference, let me know.

Kind regards

Georgie Stuart

So Mark if they dont want want the xmas lunch and prefer beans on toast or something similar let me know and I am sure they will sort it out,

Please let me know ASAP.
