Whatever.
You would be equally welcome in your daily, although it is usual to bring the Elan along :-D

I don't think I could get there much before 7.30. There is no reason why I can't skip the drive & catch you up at the destination.

We recieved the pleasure of a 3 series bmw driven by some doughnut making nutter at the meet i arranged for us up t'north

Gah! So sorry, Bryan. I was very disappointed not to see you. Didn't you have my mobile number? (I didn't have yours with me, as events conspired to make me absent minded today - my wife had a BIG hospital appointment this morning).

You'd have made it four blues!

Antelope made it too, but 24 hours early, and you were there enough for some of us to see the car whiz past the Unit 6 entrance (where we were parked and where we waited 'til eight) and we waved.

A lot of folk would have shaken you by the hand and greeted you very warmly. I can only hope that you enjoyed the drive.

I'm up closer to you tomorrow afternoon, I'll give you a shout.

Sorry to hear about your drive Bryang. Thought it was too strange to have 7 elans parked together and another just happens to drive past. It was a nice evening for a little drive with the group, thanks Jacko for organising it. Nice to put a few faces and cars to names. TerryR

I didn't get there straight away.
I first drove around an industrial park, then to the end of the road, around the roundabout by McD's then into another unit before spotting some Elans & finding where I was meant to be.

& we were all disappointed to see you drive past then never manage to find us again :(

No, as everyone expected to attend was told (including Bryang) by PM or e-mail, (and as stated in the first post on this thread) we started at the old MG factory.

Firstly, thanks to john for organising this get-together - worth the long drive, just because i like driving the car anyway!

Only down side was that i didn't get home 'til gone half midnight, and still had to get up for work today.

The trip up was nicely broken up with a nice cuppa at Swindon, after the boring motorway bit (thanks Dave - and Angie has noticed how empty the conservatory looks, and will more-so when the large crate gets collected  ). Then the better roads started with the run up the A420/A415 to Abingdon.

We (nearly first time) found the RV point, as i was looking for the old sheds i remember from my last visit, which are now new houses  - the line-up of elans in the carpark was the clue to the casual driver going past (which the driver of the white elan failed to notice, so i had to chase him down the road, frantically pointing - which he also didn't see  ). Even though we were 10 minutes later than planned, there were others still to come, so a bit of a natter in the carpark filled the time.

Jon even managed to get a couple of pictures which don't make my car look like a real shed (must have taken some doing).

The convoy / drive was great - 7 elans on nearly empty roads is a good combination, ending in the car park at the pub.

Al reckons i have the worlds loudest dump-valve, but i don't think it's that bad - just a standard Bailey - no trumpet - and the noise was more likely to be the combination of high revs, piper exhaust and insane laughter.

Pub wasn't too busy - food was great - staff friendly (I think Iain made an impression on the server  ).

Just to finish, having now been to numerous events around the country in the elan, I feel that i was a representative of the Elan Central (Bristol region) at the inaugural Thames Valley event - and as such, i can say what many others may wish to do..............

Just the one now, but this one's mine! - and it will be finished eventually.....
