West Midlands Meetup

Postby maz_r » Mon 30.06.2014, 23:24

I will admit that I am getting jealous of all the other regional meet-ups, so it is about time we Midlanders got our act together!

There are 3 things to decide, although I appreciate that a fait accompli is sometime the best, otherwise (what is apparently called) 'decision spin' sets in... However, as a democratic collective, lets take a vote:

1. When?
2, Where?
3. How often?

And my votes go for:

1. 2nd Thursday of the month at 7:30
2. Coach & Horses in Weatheroak (map)
3. Monthly

Let's hear your views and get this show on the road :)

:agree: so am I. At least no-one will have to get a ferry to get here!

Time date place frequency all fine with me Martin. It's easy to say slightly more east, but I guess there are a few Worcs based Midlanders around so location looks a good compromise.

So first meet would be 10th July? Do we start a list, or is it not quite a fait accompli yet? :D

I'm with Pete on this one..... but prepared to travel to Gods country if required (we have a bit of a reputation for crashing the Midlands meets anyway, so there is a precendent).

Now I remember why we can't get a Midlands meetup going...it is because us midlanders are such an appathetic lot!

Well. I shall be at the Coach & Horses this Thursday (10th) from about 7:30ish. Hope I am not going to be sitting there on my own.... :?

Martin
Should be able to make it, so we'll sit together, enjoy a bite to eat and a pint and compare cars/problems/issues and put the world to rights.

Unless anyone else can make it.......

OK Folks,

Today is the day. It is glorious out, so there is no excuse on that front.

I know all you Midlanders are too shy and retiring to post and confirm attendance, so I am just assuming that there will be a massive turnout :)

See you there around 7:30 tonight.

Hi Guy's n Gal's,

I would have been there but I've only just come back from my hols today (and the car is in the garage having the rear brakes converted!) September is a definite though. Hope you all had a great time.

regards

John

Don't fret John - there wouldn't have been room in the car park :D For some reason it was very popular tonight...

Good evening even though there were only 2 of us :( At least we managed to have no clash of car colours...

We had a good old natter about all sorts which was very enjoyable and the food was good once it turned up...

Thanks FredJohn for a good evening - hopefully we can get above 2 next time :)

(and I am happy to confirm that the heater works!)

And a good time was had by all. Nice pub good grub good local beer: couldn't get more local, they have their own brewery.
Not only did car colours not clash, but made up my fave footy team:-) and it is NOT Hull.
Thanks for an enjoyable evening Martin. Hopefully next month there'll be a few more.

And we both drove there and back hoods down :-D

Well, I was going to go (as it's the most local meeting we seem to have for us West Country boys) - and will try for next month :D

(Unfortunately, Angies Dad passed away on Tuesday night so we had a bit of a late dash down to Cornwall and a few days away at no notice. We will be doing a bit of driving over the next couple of weeks, but should settle down in time for the next meeting)

This month's meeting should be on the 14th August, using the newly adopted "second Thursday of the month" process.

However, I shall be away on family hols then. So 3 options are:

1. Go ahead on the 14th - have fun :)
2. Delay by a week to the 21st instead, in which case I'll be there
3. Skip August altogether and move on to September

Thoughts?

Martin
If this month is as well attended as last month I'll be having fun on my own on 14th :)

I am OK with 21st, so we are 2 (again).

Any other Midlanders around interested in enjoying some good food and very good local beer? Oh and a Lotus chat?

Any sou'westers fancy a trip up?

John

Brands on the 17th, my birthday on the 23rd and Sardinia on the 30th...... it'll probably depend on the weather.

Bugger off the pair of you. I said it was weather dependent and the forecast looks good, so you'd better get baking. :smt113 That'll be *cough*-nine candles.
