Hi folks, I'm Alan, some of you may remember me as the guy that started North Yorkshire Lotus Owners Club (Nyloc) in 1998. Hi Gareth! I was registered here in the early years, don't know why I dropped away, usual excuses e.g. Work, Nyloc, family, health, etc.
Anyway, promise to try harder, I've still got my azure blue M100 S2 after 21 years, now on 130K miles. Unfortunately not used much in recent years, after hip and knee replacements due to arthritis I decided to give an Elise a go. Had a 2008 Elise S for 4 years and loved it but last year decided it was getting a struggle to get out so it had to go reluctantly.i've now got a German thing for a daily driver, good for long journeys but dull overall.
One of the few benefits of the lockdown is that I've been giving the Elan a good clean and plan to start using it a lot more. It's getting on a bit to put a lot of money into it but it's time it had better front brakes and maybe the improved gear cable system from America that my mate has had fitted. That'll do for now, I'll be posting up some questions shortly no doubt.

Hi Nyloc20, welcome back to the forum :D
You’ve had your Elan a long time, I imagine you have had great fun all those years, and hopefully not many issues !

Hi Kipperozzy, yes had some great times in the Elan. Fortunately in 2000 one of my mates who we met through Nyloc bought a place near Le Mans. We've had numerous trips there and around Europe with the club to race meetings, and also to my wife's sister in Switzerland. Bought the car from Paul Matty in 1999 with 30k on the clock and now 130k as I said previously.
I had an earlier SE but it was a daily driver and I was doing a lot of miles at the time so decided to change it.
It's only ever broken down once, near Dijon when the cat failed so I got it recovered home through my breakdown insurance. I have a brilliant self employed mechanic who looks after it with regular services. It's still on the original clutch and never had a major unexpected bill. (Where's the fingers crossed emoji? :))

Cheers Clemo, just to add my car is no 360, completely standard ( I think) apart from replacement alarm system and stereo and addition of a wind deflector.

Hi Nyloc and welcome back,
Does your "self employed" mechanic do work on any car I might be interested in using his services if he knows Elans for mine cambelt etc. Not too far from me and always nice to find someone that understands these cars rather than explaining how to do things each time.

Hi David, I'll drop you some details on a pm. Typically he's always very busy but I'm sure he'd be happy to book you in with a bit of lead time.
