East Mids HI Express possible Group Buy!

Postby chris.t » Sat 01.12.2007, 15:15

Whilst booking over the web i noticed that there is a group booking code. I phoned to enquire what this meant. Apparently there is a discount for a group booking of 10 or more rooms. Unfortunately the dept that deals with group bookings isn't open til monday.

So anyone thinking of booking the HIE for Donny hold on until i've had a word with them on monday. I know some have already booked and i'll find out if any discounts can be applied to your bookings as well.

The rule is:- 10 rooms or more per night counts as a group booking.

The current rate is £65 per room per night with continental breakfast.

The group booking office have now got to negociate with the actual hotel for a rate (all sounds a bit odd). they will be phoning me back this pm.

i need interest so please register it here.

Tell me how many rooms and how many nights. remember anything less than 10 rooms and we won't get a discount. Also the longer you take to decide will a) mean that the rooms may be taken and b) i might not be able to get the required discounts.

I think that a deadline until mid January 08 should be sufficient unless HIE pressure me for sooner.

Cheers Chris

I have now got it clear with HIE.

The best that they could give us is £57 for a group of 20 rooms (strange i'm sure they said 10  ) which is the advance purchase rate. If you want to get this rate as an individual you can by going on the site but be quick cos they only have a limited number.

The only advantage of doing a group booking is that they will give us 20 rooms at that rate. So if you want to go down this route then we will need 20 rooms to book which could be done if LEF want to get involved. Its a bit of a gamble though cos if we don't get 20 then we don't get the rate and you may then have missed out on the advance purchase rate. Still its only £8 which probably equates to the cost of the breakfast

Anyway it is a bit in your hands now, i'm willing to do the negociating/organising but i need firm orders for rooms fairly quickly to gaurantee that the rooms will be available.

Chris
Ive booked mine
didnt wanna see you end up paying for a load of rooms or trying to coordinate a group buy when its just as easy to do it online
so to that end Ive got
double bed with sofa bed non smoking £57
:-D
I suppose that means if the wife isnt attending I could have some space free

cheers

well done gareth, HIE were not very helpful. They told me that they don't have to give discounts as such cos they know they'll be full (well that is what i was told). I suppose the group booking box is for their outer hebrides hotel

Incidently i didn't ask but are the HIE hotels a franchise? cos the head office has to negociate with the actual hotel to get discounts, V.strange if they're not :?

The offer is still open if there is enough interest. Payment would be in the normal way (over the net) but you will be able to put the group booking code (when known). Same terms and conditions would apply as for an advance purchase ie you don't get your money back if you cancel

I think I posted the £15 price up last year and there weren't many of them, so I went to look when they became available. Some interfering admin type seems to have deleted the 2007 threads though. :smt096

Just missed out on the £15 Travelodge but got it for £25
With the saving you can just afford a few pints in the Holiday Inn.
