Donny 2008 General Discussion

Postby G UK » Tue 29.01.2008, 00:37

Is it just me or is there no General Discussion forum/thread on this. This is my first year of owning an Elan and am very interested in going but have not met any of you before.

As such trying to decide where I should be posting for advice is getting a bit confusing especially as I dont want to be interrupting threads where people are getting lists together or starting multiple threads asking questions about individual bits of the weekend.

Generally I'd like to check how much tickets are, when and where people meet on Friday (one of the hotels I guess) how they get to the gupta and back again. On Saturday what happens with the convoy and during the day, and then how do people get to the Saturday Evening Entertainment and back.

I'd be looking to stop the Friday and Saturday Night even though I dont live to far away anyway (Sutton-in-Ashfield).

If a Moderator could move this to the correct area if there is one it would be appreiated although I'll be buggered if I know where it should go :-D

Edit: Just realised this has turned from a shouldn't there be a forum for this post into a completely off-topic post that shouldn't be in here. Whoops!!

Moved to a more apt (but not perfect) location.

Tickets are usually about £10 each, but cover both days.

Most are staying in the Holiday Inn or Travelodge. Best bet is to get to the HI bar for 6ish when everyone starts to congregate. I think that the bus left the travelodge about 7:30 last year.

Convoy meets up in the services/travelodge about 9am, everyone has a gossip for a bit and the procession starts about 9:30 or just after.

Chris.T organised the saturday outing last year, I think he may be doing so again this year.

Look forward to seeing you there!

£8 from the lovely AnneMarie @ Club-Lotus (01362 694459).

Don't do it first thing on a Monday morning though, or you end up trying to buy tickets for the 28th of March

OK... Here's what I know.

Prices (ticket covers both days):

Individual - £8.00 pre-booked vs £9.00 on the door.
OAP & Teens - £4.00 vs 4.50.
Family (2+2) - £25.00 vs £a lot!

Transport details for the gupta on the Friday night are yet to be finalised but some will drive from the Hotels. Be ready from about 7:00 pm.

Saturday morning congregate at the services (co-located with the Travel Lodge) from 08:00 am onwards. We'll roll about 08:35 am.

LEC and LEF (if they're playing) parking will be in the gravelled overspill that we used last year (on the left before you get to the Lotus Only car park).

Don't take out the secure parking ticket option it's a waste of time and money.

For tickets; ring Club Lotus on 01362-691144/694459.

... Oh, and the reason for there being no "Donington General" area is that, from past experience, when I've formed a General area everyone posts their own nuggets of info in it rather than in the more-specific areas.

This of course doesn't cater for someone coming along wanting to know everything about the weekend and asking in one all-encompassing post...

After seeing the queue to get in last year it`s well worth getting your ticket in advance. Saves a good half hour wait :)
