Saturday Convoy route?

Postby bunglin » Tue 19.02.2008, 18:28

I have looked through the threads and there are references to a saturday convoy and a travelodge - but I cant seem to find any information as to the actual route this will take - and any stopping off/meeting points.

This will be our first time at Donington/convoy- so excuse me if i'm being a bit thick.

I live in Bedfordshire - and so I will pick up the M1 just north of Luton (J13).

Bunglin,
The Convoy meets at the Donington Services (just off the M1) and then travels into Donington itself. The actual convoy is only about 3 miles, but with 60+ cars that is enough !

I'm sure some-one will post a link to the services. Obviously everyone will be making their way to the services for the kick off on the Saturday AM (except those staying over), so there are various mini-convoys from around the country. You maybe able to pick one of those up - each has it's own thread.

You want to allow yourself an hour at the services if you can to chat and admire the Elans as they arrive.

Chris, always gets us there on time :D

We just arrange to meet at set times along the way. Chris will give you a ring on your mobile when we a 5 minutes away and all you have to do is join the M1 slowly and we catch you up, then we all follow Chris. Simple.

Not quite.
This is the route from the services car park up to the entrance to Donington Park:

Just N of Luton???

J13 is South MK

I will be leaving on Saturday morning too. How about we meet at Newport Pagnell services (just N of J14) and hoon up the M1 together?

Anyone else want to meet up here?

My first year too. Surely getting lost together is better than getting lost separately?

I really can't believe you sometimes Dippy Rippy.

J14 to J23a involves two tactical manouevres:-

1) enter northbound M1 via entryslip
2) exit M1 at J.......

How the f.... you gonna get lost :-D

I've got to find Wembley on Sunday mate - not been for 9 years and the bleeding Aus-koala have taken out the twin towers

I won't get lost, Dave.
I refuse to get Sat Nav. I have Rip Nav
M-way service stations are the easiest thing to find.
I just want to hoon on an M-way without my Elan Exploding this time

Wembley is easy to find. You can easily see it from the n circular.

Let Chris sort it, we had about 7 Elans last year and met up with another group as well before Donington.

That would have been us lot that met at Stansted and joined you A14/M1 junction.

I'm going up Friday, the other JohnW will be with the Rutland Girls, and Nobs will probably meet you M25 end of MI.

Edit - Hey Gaz I just realised that was my photography too!

I've looked at all the threads that seem relevant and can't find the postcode for the services. Please can some-one post it....
