Taxi-Quoter.co.uk reckons its £48.75 for a taxi-coach (24-39 seater) on a same day return from the Holiday Inn to the Melbourne Arms leaving at 7PM. I havn't phoned them yet but we would be looking at around £3-£4 each for this kind of option. I'll look at booking something if theres enough interest.

So who wants to chip in for a taxi minibus/minicoach

have we tried yell.co.uk

the other thing is that if we can get to the melbourne before 7 I think they'll do all the trips....or it sounded like they might.....

worth a phonecall I would have said.....

say one trip from the travel lodge and 2 trips from the HI

think that should cover everyone......

Okay, hot off the press..............

Neil has just phoned me direct from the Melbourne Arms, as stated, they are NOT able to do any other runs to the restaurant, but have no problems with getting us all home at the end of the evening.

They have been able to provide a phone number for a local firm who have a 12 seater.

Village Cars - 01332 706020

I haven't got a clue on prices or availability, but it is an option if anyone want to give them a bell.

PS - I have confirmed that the minibus from the restaurant is a 16 seater, so all on the earlier list are considered confirmed.

Just the one now, but this one's mine! - and it will be finished eventually.....

As I said before I phoned the melbourne arms and they said they are now to busy to put on any more runs on.

I was going to see how much interest there would be on getting a taxi before I booked one (already booked several things recently and am waiting for people to pay me/hoping people turn up ) but if someone wants to take a flier and book one anyway thats fine by me. Saves me a job afterall. :-D

Perhaps we should have been quicker off the mark and organised a couple of runs to Melbourne ? Guys in the first couple of shuttles as they always want to have more bar time :drunk: and the WAG's :smt061 in the last shuttle - after all they take longer to get ready and pamper themselves

Count me in for a bus or taxi space please G UK. I'm staying at the Travel Lodge along with all the other cheapskates

G/Rambo

Obviously I can't talk for the rest of the guys on the bus, but I don't have a problem with chipping in for your taxi/minibus.

I just worry that if it gets left too late, you won't get anything :(

If you can book it quick for 12 people, and everyone chucks in a couple of quid (including those of us on the booked bus), then that will easily cover the taxi fare and leave a healthy tip for the driver of the 'free' bus.

I'd hate for you to wait until you had 12 people interested, and find it too late to book it.

I'll probably book it tomorrow morning (Pending length of lie in :asleep: ) but we can still use the list for people to book there seats on it. I'll check on here again before I book so if anybody wants to do it tonight feel free.

When I book it I'll get a pick up at both the Travelodge and the Holiday Inn @ about 7ish. I'll not book a return trip if they reckon they can Ferry us all back at the end of the evening.

So hurry up people and book your seat before there all gone. :-D

Great stuff G UK. Looks like CJ101KT also needs a taxi judging by an earlier posting ?? So I've taken the liberty of adding his name

Taxi List:

1) G UK
2) Rambo
3) Dave Eds
4) BigSi LEF
5) Jen LEF
6) Peter LEF
7) CJ101KT

I'm sure there will be others judging by the amount of people staying at the TL and HIE

just wondered if there was any milage in getting one bus from the travellodge and one from the HI....especially if we're all chipping in

Im on the melbourne bus at the mo but dont really mind how I get there just as long as I dont have to drive :drunk:

all Im thinkin is that it might be a lot less hassle than walking all over (also avoiding precipitation)

Good idea Pinky, I think we should all contribute to the total cost of transport, and we should make sure that there is a good tip for the Melbourne driver.

Happy to go on whichever bus turns up at the HI... keep in mind though that some of the guys last year from the travelodge where making the HI bar look untidy by the time the bus turned up, so it may not be as straightforward as who's staying in which hotel.

Count me in from the HIE if there's still room. I really need good beer and Indian food, it's nearly a year since I was last in the UK.

Do we need to make reservations at the Melbourne Arms?
