OK, people of the Northern convoy: only two weeks to go. I propose the following 2007 arrangements:

Scotland to Donington Friday 16th March 2007.

As per the past few years, I'm going to be driving down on the Friday. Usually we get a decent convoy of people - it's more fun driving together and we can support each other if anything goes wrong (not counting the time in 2005 when we all drove off leaving Farran in Killington 'cos nobody realised his gearbox had broken).

This set of rendezvous and timings have worked OK in previous years, and gets us to Donington in plenty of time for the Friday night curry at the Melbourne Arms. Please say if you're interested in coming, say if you have a problem with any of these timings, and PM me with your mobile 'phone number. Once I have all the info, I'll PM each of you with a list of 'phone numbers for use in case somebody misses a rendezvous.

Abington services: Arrive @ 11.30 am, depart @ 12.00 noon.
1… John W
2… Farran ? Still interested?
3… Andy J? Going this year?
4… Andrew Ennis : I really must give you a ring
(Neither Stevo nor BigErch are going this year).

Abington to Killington Lake = 110 miles (1 hr 40 mins)

Killington Lake services Arrive @ 1.40 pm, depart @ 2.00 pm.
4… jimp357 ? Going this year?

Killington Lake to The Egerton Arms (Knutsford Road, Chelford,
Macclesfield, Cheshire SK11 9BB) = 90 miles (1 hr 30 mins).

The Egerton Arms near Knutsford:
Arrive @ 3.30 pm, depart @ 3.45 pm.
5… Monty? going to join us?
6… Dico? Is the car working this year?
7… Simon 51mon ?
8… Gareth (theelanman) Willing to lead us over the Cat & Fiddle again? (A bit slower and without snow this time please.)

The Egerton Arms to the Cat & Fiddle via Macclesfield = 17 miles (30 mins).

Cat & Fiddle Inn, A537 Buxton Road, Macclesfield, SK11 0AR. @ 4.15 pm.

Cat & Fiddle to Ashbourne = 21 miles (30 mins).

Ashbourne to join A50 at Oaks Green (near Sudbury) = 11 miles (15 mins)

Oaks Green to Donington = 18 miles (20 mins).

Arrive at Donington @ 5.20 pm.
Travelodge, Donington Park M1 Moto Service Area, M1 J.23a, DE74 2TN . This is the Saturday morning meeting point.

OK Who's interested?

Dico? Is the car working this year?

I'm 95% certain the Beast aint going to make it this year (again) :(
I sorn'ed it earlier this month when the insurance ran out, then the tax.
So the fact Mr Parsons has just lightened my wallet of £800 for some Elan 'bits', and I would also need the best part of £500 for tax and insurance means its unlikely.
Plus it will give me the chance to fit said 'bits'.
However I shall still be coming to Donny as co pilot in Pinky 2.

Looking forward to it :)

Gareth,

Are you planning to stop at the Cat & Fiddle, or just pass by?
I will be making a sprint down to the service area for the 'convoy' on Saturday morning, but if you and your followers are stopping at the Cat, I will meet up there to blow the cobwebs from my Elan before the trip to Donington.
Do you have an ETA for the Cat?

Hi Gareth,

That sounds OK.
I will meet up with the group just past Arigi's in the layby on Buxton Road at around 4.00pm.
I will pick up on the end of the line, and peel off to Buxton for a run down Long Hill (check for brake fade) on my way home.

Will see you on Saturday for the convoy!

Hi Tony,

Would like to meet up with you as you are probably my nearest Elan owner! Could meet in Hazel Grove and join up with Gareth in Macc. for a ride around Buxton.
I will be travelling to Donington on Sat. 17th to meet up with the 'convoy' and it may be helpfull to travel down together in case either of us need any assistance on the way. (most likely me!!!)
I will send you a PM with my mobile number.

Make sure he's got those seats and harnesses fitted correctly if you're going to be chucked about over the Cat and Fiddle. LOL

I'll be taking the more sedentary route from Herefordshire again this year so that my stomach isn't too churned up for the Melbourne curry bash !!
