It really was quite amazing :D
JUFs breathes again 8)

Now my next missing part trawl starts. I have realised the black plastic caps that fit in the rubber headlight covers are missing has anyone got any of these going spare?

Progress is in fits and starts under lock down as I wait for bolts washers fittings etc delayed due to Covid 19.(Waited 2 weeks for M6 Long Jack Nuts)!!

I am trying my best to replace all original bolts, nuts, washers, fixtures and fittings with Stainless Steel.
I've been making new bumper grills to the pattern of the originals using the same 19g mesh only using stainless steel mesh instead of the cheap original chicken wire, then painting them black to match the SJ Sports Cars centre grill I bought.

I've cleaned up the crank pulley and re-painted it polished the crank pulley nut and clear lacquered it before refitting and torquing it up.

The front clam has foam fitted and is shimmed up ready for final bolting down with the stainless steel bolts on order and mew spire M6 fittings on the tub. I am copper Slipping all fittings before bolting together.

All the time I've been trying to source missing small parts no longer available. Simon P has offered me a set of A post gutters Cheers Simon  another LEC member has offered some red carpet when he gets the chance to check what he has which could be amazing if it comes off as my search for the original spec to match the new carpets Jamie fitted is proving impossible. The LEC community is brilliant.
I will provide photos soon. The wiring is now clipped to the underside of the clam and fed through to the engine bay :D New P clips have just arrived to start clipping it in the correct places.
Photos to follow soon :D :D :D
I am also fitting a brass plaque to JUfs in memory of Jamie and his pursuit of excellence :D

Ok progress is slow because I am constantly thinking is this how Jamie would have done this. I am posting some photos of the slow fitting and re fitting up of the front clam. I will post photos of various parts of the build including bumper grills and lower spoiler clamp plates. Photos of the front clam gradually being built up with wiring and H Lamp pod mechanism again using stainless steel bolts and washers where ever possible. As usual I have some parts requests

Inter cooler Pipe I've finished in crinkle black to try and break up the gloss black of the car and also add a nod to the earlier Lotus models that had crinkle black cam covers etc. Its also extremely heat and chemical resistant.

OK now parts request time.

1) I am still looking for Door red carpets and map pocket. I can make these from floor carpets etc if anyone has any in their parts store.
2) A excellent pair of "A" panel indicators
3) Piece of wiring loom with the A panel bulb holder and both sides male and female plug in connector housed behind the A panel as per photo.

Cheers Guys

Mike - do you mean these for item 2 ?

https://www.sjsportscars.com/parts-and- ... M0083F.htm

I have some in my spares boxes taken off other cars and replaced with clear ones but I doubt they will be in the condition you require. I will check though

Can't help with any more red carpet I'm afraid. It all went with the sale of red Rambo over 5 years ago

Thanks Guys
Yes that's the side repeaters I've ordered a new pair from Old School Mini's

I think I need to post on Facebook to find someone with a scrap wiring loom to obtain the harness and connector. There was an offer of some Red carpet from a guy on the Facebook group but its all gone a bit quiet. I am not a Facebook user normally its all new so I am not sure I am posting properly when I post on there :| I keep hitting return and posting before I have finished typing :bonk:

Bumper fitting this weekend. I have left the grills out until I have trial fitted it and worked out the required number of shims. Then I will Sikaflex the grills in for the final fit.
Shimming up the clam was fun  I remember doing this on JUFs back in 1999 with a brand new Lotus clam. Its relatively easy to remove a factory fitted clam and count all the washers and their locations for re-assembly when fitting the same clam back on. However starting from scratch is tricky just when you thick you have it right you nip it down and you realise its still got too much tension on the cam or ts thrown the balance out between one side to the other. I seem to remember back in 1999 fitting the bumper also required further re shimming of the clam, i will find out soon.

Its really looking fabulous :D

If you can't get a loom then you should be able to make one using parts from MiniSpares.com and Delphi (now Aptiv) 150 connectors.

More haste less speed If you are going for concourse and looking for parts.

I have the correct Rover side repeaters (New). The lens pattern and colour are different - they are like rocking horse xxxx - oh well too late now I suppose!

Not too late Simon. :D

I can cancel the order. Its gong to be concourse as far as condition mostly but Jamie did divert from Lotus factory fit parts where he thought there was a better option. e.g. Samco hoses, Red carpets, Peco exhaust.

Cheers Mike
