Here is another small preview from Sh4rk downtown Athens at Midnight hours...

Off course I am saving all the good stuff for the Sh4rk DVD

http://www.sh4rk.gr/Preview3.wmv

As a recent feedback we have encountered some problems with fueling? or exhaust? The DSP are trying to solve it out. Problem occurs when I switch to 1.5bar pressure (thats 325+hp without NOS) and mainly on 4th but also on 3rd gear, and at high revs 5000rpm+. Its either fueling, or not proper breathing out from exhaust. Perhaps the 2.5" exhaust pipe was perfect for 200hp but not enough for 300+hp. At 0.9bar (250hp) everything is perfect and at 1.2bar (290hp) the problem is minor not even noticeabe.

Could be the high temperatures in Greece?

I do, but you should know better since you are Greek, Greece aint Britain with countless PROPER Circuits, there is only Megara and if you try once to race there you ll see its actually a big Cart race track, and on top its design harms the car in everyway. Just try it first..

nice waste gate flutter :D - played the vid and all the bits and bobs on my desk started buzzing and vibrating from the exhaust note :D :D :D
Could the 'Hokey-Cokey' actually be what it's all about?

From what I've encountered, the 2.5" exhaust is good for over 300 HP. However my issue and ultimate limitation may come from the intake. What is the inlet diameter on your turbo, or for that matter, your intake piping? My first T3 inlet was 2" as was the piping from the turbo to the intercooler. If I'm understanding things correctly, an increase in the exhaust size will not provide ultimate power limits if the intake is smaller. It could allow a change in turbo responsiveness, however.
Rumors of my demise have been greatly exaggerated.

Dave, that option never crossed my mind, I shall let Greg figure it out tomorrow, thanks for the tip. Even though my technical knowledge is limited I believe that the problem is caused by the stock fuel pump as it may not deliver proper fuelling to 500cc injectors. We r checking things step by step. We increased Fuel pressure from 3bar to 3.5 but problem still there, we replaced fuel pressure adjustment but problem still there. Tomorow we are replacing fuel pump with a bigger one, and if that fails too perhaps intake piping diameter is next.

Last option will be exchaust as it sounds with problem from catalyst and if it is "stuck" perhaps the car cant exhale properly.

Any other options?

Little birdie told you? We r trying to build as similar as possible, Trust me you are gonna love it!

Keep in mind that the video and sound quality I am uploading is 10 times worst than original due to size limitation

OK, I realize that driving styles vary by location, so keep in mind I am in the US, have never been to Greece, and know nothing of the driving styles there. However, based on the police response, I won't let that deter me.

Hate to be the downer, but I am not impressed. You seem to be confusing reckless with impressive....anyone can get behind the wheel of a car, drive like they are insane, and endanger the lives of others. It is no way earns respect for the driver or the car (and as I think I have commented before, it is an awesome car).

However, I cannot help but feel that all your work is going to be for nothing if you insist on such immature and irresponsible behavior. Worse yet, the loss might be more than just your "pride & joy."

I am sure that we all get a little wicked with the car every now and then, but your repeated antics for the sake of bragging rights will be of little consolation to the innocent around you should things turn tragic.

On a technical note, you should fit a fuel pressure gauge if you suspect delivery issues. It will tell you right away if the stock fuel pump is up to the task. Fortunately, it is very easy to fit a Walbro high-pressure 255lph pump in the Elan if you need.

I wish I could help more. I'm about 4 months behind where I wanted to be at this point. Otherwise I'd be in the midst of tuning my car as well and we could compare notes! Hopefully the engine will be together in the next week or so. Might be another month at least until I'm ready to tune, though.

What exactly is the "problem" you mentioned the shop encountered? Was there just no more power with an increase in boost? Was the car beginning to run lean? Was there a drop in power over 5000 rpm? I can check my prior ES logs to see if I had a similar condition back when I dynoed.
Rumors of my demise have been greatly exaggerated.

Hi Costas,

do u mind if i ask a little more about the re-mapping of the engine then?
u still using the same ecu? but re-mapped? or may i know what you have used to cater for the new boost levels and fueling?
i am intending to switch out my ecu (local shop willing - being the first elan they would touch) before any turbo upgrades etc.

thanks!

There si NO race track in tha area of Athens (capital of Greece) except 1 which like cart track. Unfortunatelly some countries, like mine, dont have the luxuries that Britain or USA have, so even though your safety comments are respected, my only option if I decide to follow them is to buy a 20galon bucket of vazeline and shove the sh4rk deep in my a$$ since there is no way I can drive it anywhere in my country.

Had I got some racetracks next to me? yes I would explode all my adrenaline in track, but thats not a option for me or any other Athenian. The only proper race track is 600km away and I did drive there 2 weeks ago for the experience of it, but I cant do it on daily basis.

Its dangerous? yes, but its part of the joy even though it may be hard to be understood. Hell! Going to war with Iraq is more dangerous but some countries did go to war with Iraq nevertheless!

I do enjoy the sh4rk on daily basis on its limits in every way, period.

Last night a 911 turbo was next of me on the traffic light. Should I race it or play it "by the law" and "I am risking innocent lives" rules? Well, I raced it! and I LOVED IT! He didnt

that's where you've gone wrong - all Greeks drive their cars like they stole it!! - a greek taxi ride is very entertaining!! which is totally opposite to the way of life , which is so laid back it's horizontal :)

My advice is get yourself over to one of the many fantastic greek islands and see for yourself :) (im off to santorini and ios in 3 weeks and cant wait!)

I wont turn this thread to a BS fight. I will keep posting my videos and whoever feels like enjoying watching them can Download them, else please dont! If the LEC doesnt aprove of my videos or my posts, I will stop posting them and will have no problem at all to delete all the ones posted so far, end of story.

Now back in business, replaced the fuel pump and today we noticed that the Fuel filter was very dirty so perhaps that was the cause of the problem. It is very hot outside and didnt dare to test it yet, I shall know tonight of the result.

LEC will not adopt a judgemental position and therefore have no problem with the content of your videos.

Carry on...

I remember sometime ago in your postings talk about your rear light cluster, is it something that you have a pattern for or can get made up or is it a one off never to be repeated.

Mario,

U`ve made u`r point and agree with some points u made, now that u`ve had u`r say leave it be. I wouldn`t drive like that myself, but agree with costas life would be boring if u stuck to the law as more and more laws stop us from having a fun. I prefer a quick sprint (+couple of barriers) or the bends on country roads and hopefully i`ll get mine on the track one day but it is expensive.

Costas, luv the video even thou my heart was in my throat LOL. The shark is looking Kool. Did u ever get the black nose badge for her?
