Thought you had a switcher chip? that looks like a Turbo Dynamics MBC sticking out of your dash?

Yep, look directly above the gearstick. Looks set to no.6, which it was when I was with Murph on Saturday.
Nige wrote:Sticking out of your dash?

I think that may be the manual fan switch.

I see what you mean about the silver/white difference being subtle in daylight. I didn't notice the boost gauge was a different colour, (& I did have my eye on what was going on while I was pax).

I was impressed with Pinky, especially as it was wet when Murph was driving me round.

I can see the switcher, just curious about the big round blue and white (silver) thing, it's a big fan switch and that looks a bit like a turbo dynamics logo on it, hence the question.

Cheers for the picture Monty.

Why the change from white dials, just better colour match with car?

:-D

Yep it`s a MBC, but it`s turn off at the mo since having the HG problems. The Switcher is set to 6 which is just the V5 everest.

I have ran at 15psi which is just a tad over 1bar but at the moment don`t want to push my luck with the HG.

I did want silver dials to start with but i couldn`t find a silver faced boost gauge with a black bezel, but after a year with the white ones i thought what the hell and decided i wasn`t to bothered about the boost gauge being white :-D Anyways the white ones are common

Not for £30 they won`t :smt044 + i got £18 for my old ones so they only cost me £12

Don`t want to be spending any more money on the dials as one day i`ll do something similar to LGM`s main dials. But it won`t be this year

You have my attention there, Murph!
I think the Elan's rev counter is far too small, so would like to change my dials too......in time.
I also have a list to get through before that gets added, so maybe we'll be looking at this at the same time?

I’ve read the posts on the cylinder head bolts several times and I still can’t understand what this means :? – any chance of an explanation Dave?

Thanks

Was speaking to a mechanic today and explained the situation, he said when rechecking the head bolts did I crack them open a 1/4 turn then reset them to the correct torque  but I always believed that u do not loosen of the bolts :?

I hope I’m not repeating what Specky is saying…. :?

You are right, once torqued up they don’t want slackening off for any reason.

The mechanic was wrong.

Wise man Murph. He'd have probably nicked your bolts if you had backed them off.

Well it`s come to that time of the year again so in preperation for the MOT last weekend i fitted Bob Browns rear sliding pins (Doorman type) with new pads fitted to front & rear. Well Pinky went in for it`s MOT today and passed with no Problems.

Here`s the results of the brake test

.....................N/S.........O/S
Rear................90..........90
Handbrake......160........160
Front..............330........360
Balance..........200........200

Just MOTd mine and I have the smaller Wilwood kit on the front, with similar results to yours (kgf I presume?). My rears are MUCH lower though. I'm getting about 60-70 on the footbrake and not much more on the handbrake. This is with Dormans, greenstuff pads and drilled/grooved discs.

What am I doing wrong?
