OK, I'm well and truly drunk.

I think I need to sober up before I know what I am looking at. At the moment it's all one great big Elan goodness! .

I also have many ideas in the back of my mind such as a full-on "micro" in car PC with dashboard touch-screen including built-in Elanscan, entertainment center etc, Think replacing your stereo with a PC. I know its possible I've just got to get round to looking at it and doing feasability etc!!

I have spent quite a bit of time on looking into the options concerning in-car PC, and it is easily possible, quite straightforward, and all the bits are easy to get hold of!

I was looking into a laptop docking station fitted into the boot (on the bulkhead), hard wired to a flip-out 7" touch screen where the head unit currently sits. This was chosen because i have a spare IBM T series laptop which should be man enough for the job.....

....but since then the kids have broken their lappy, and are using my spare one!

The project will go ahead when i get it back again!

I didn't want a permanent screen in the dash because it would advertise to thieves, and i didn't want to mess about with the layout too much.

The only downside i could see was the 'boot-up' time when getting into the car, as on a short journey it wouldn't get as far as picking a radio station!

Self inflicted injuries get no sympathy from me.

If you are thinking of putting a laptop in a car you need to consider one that has a solid state hard drive as the normal mechanical drive will not with stand the bumps and vibration.

Oh dear, Just been driving back from the airfield including some boot down stuff when I was nearly home. On pulling up and getting out I noticed blue smoke from the exhaust which stopped after a few seconds. On revving the engine a few times another few seconds of blue smoke appears along with some pops and burbles.

Having a look under the bonnet I noticed what appear to be oil stains under the turbo and a few on the block under the CAS ( I dont know whether these spots are new or old but they do look recent). Looks like I've got some investigative work to do tomorrow!!

Simplest thing to rule out first would be CAS O ring, as that's where the oil usually appears if its leaking. If it's more serious check the plugs and see if there are signs of oil being burnt.

Remember what Gerald at GST told us the other day. The bung-oil seal are a poor fit even new, he said that the guys that he knows who have replaced them recently are gunking them up with sealant. He said people are not even bothering replacing just putting sealant on. It was the same story with Paul Matty. A&M

Argh!!!!!

Just found that some scumbag has been in my shed, my Trolleyjack and old Toolkit are missing!!!!

The Toolkit is not much of a loss as it was a bit crap when new and was half knackered now anyway but the Trolleyjack was a christmas present off my parents and had only been used a couple of times. At least the smeggers left the torque wrench, pressure washer and other stuff.

I've just put a new lock on the shed and will need to pick some new tools up tomorrow now before I can have a look at the car.

That's quite a puddle in the top picture Graham, so I'm with Nige and would suspect the CAS seal.

i'VE NO DOUBT THE cas o-RING SEAL HAS FAILED. (oops, caps!) That would not account for the blue smoke in your exhaust though. That is usually traced to a failed oil seal in the turbo, meaning it'd be time to have your turbo rebuilt using parts from one of those $60 Ebay IHI-RHB5 kits.

Does the car still smoke under a hard run?

Just to point out; the bung O-ring & the CAS O-ring are two DIFFERENT parts. Each is on the same side of the engine just a few inches apart.

OK, I've been busily working on the car most of today.

Turbo is now out albeit with two snapped bolts . One I shouldn't have been trying to undo anyway but I got a bit carried away and the other was one of the two that attach the bottom oil pipe to the turbo. I found that these were plastered in oil so something has been leaking from around that area.

Whilst I was at it I also stripped off the Peco and pre-cat as I had a note from Piper yesterday saying the new system was on its way.

Tomorrow its time to find out what is leaking in the turbo and fix it if possible, Drill out & re-tap the broken bolt holes and possibly have a look at that CAS o-ring.

Oh and I'll take some pictures whilst I'm at it.

Could be wrong here, but don't think it was one of the 4 studs that hold the wastegate manifold, i had fitted Geoffsmiths s/s ones here.

Which other studs are there that you can snap removing the turbo. And will i need to buy some of them just in case Lakeside brake one? I didn't want the car sat at the garage waiting for parts. Andy
