I don't even think at that price DVB will be remotely interested!

Pretty sad. It screams, "Parts Car" more so than Major Project.

At one level, this is sad. None of us likes to see a car of a type that we like ready for the scrapper.

But this is also great news in that lots more Elans need to be scrapped if the remaining cars are to appreciate in value, and if we are to keep a supply of used parts. Some people complain at the cost of used parts. If more Elans were scrapped, the parts costs would be lower.

Personally, I don't care too much about the value of my Elan, but I am certain that the market is oversupplied with them, and that this depresses values. Elans are much more valuable in the US where they are scarce. Of course, this is not the only reason that Elan values are low, but I think it is a significant one.

Come on people. It's in British Leyland brown (come on Pinky, what's the official BL name?) for Christ's sake. The rarest of Elan colours and worthy of inclusion in the Wiki?

Just noticed it's in Lincolnshire - if it's Munch power's Elan then I think I can see why he's having trouble getting a spark!

Actually my mate who I run the undercoating/valeting business with, pointed this out to me yesterday, I just rang him and he's offered £500 for the car. If its really done 40k miles there might be some useful stuff under the rat droppings in the engine.

I'm always looking for a project, hence posting this original thread.

I also consider that it's good to look at cars that are 'Not recorded' so that lead me to this example of a car which was launched at around the same time as my old Elise - A Honda S2000.

However, after careful consideration of the photos, I came to the conclusion that this was a little bit more than what the seller was suggesting the 'project' to be - one which had a 'slight under bonnet fire'

Is this a viable option?

I think I'll pass!

Regards

John
