A very sad post indeed. In my 10yrs of membership I have had nothing but great help and assistance, seen members loan each other parts to help out and learnt a hell of a lot.

Perhaps a clearer non-contradicting statement of facts would have helped your cause. In the very first post you say you got the car off the delivery truck, into the garage and it fired up, sounding sweet. In a more recent post you say the salvage yard "harvested the good parts" before sale.

Clearly the salvage yard can't have taken the ECU as it fired up after you collected it, so what happened exactly?

That is all people were asking, but no answer was forthcoming.

I shall continue to be a member of this forum, possibly one of the most helpful and informed in the UK. Oh it's the Internet, I mean the world.

Well, that escalated quickly......

.... your memory is as short as your "luck" with the car.

When you first arrived on this (superb) forum, I think you'll find that I was one of the many who actually bothered to send you information on things to do, and things to not bother with (and some personal advice on where to get the parts you needed).....

.....so where are all these so-called derisory and derogatory comments you accuse me of making?

If it is because I won't pay you stupid money for the heap of parts which you have converted the car to, then I am with my comments. There was nothing in there that I won't stand by.

If you paid more than £500 for what you have, then I would say that you were seen off - but that is purely my personal view based on a few years of experience in cars, pricing, and mechanics.

Just because you don't like the things said, doesn't make them wrong - maybe you would be far better off elsewhere, and that is fine - we are all different.

(and as to exactly why you think that people like me, Davey, Aaron, Rob and a few others *should* be falling over ourselves to provide you with parts is a mystery to me - we have accumulated them over the years by paying good money for them, for our own use, or for those who may require them and "we" feel are worth parting with them for. Someone who turns up and starts demanding them is unlikely to get very far. After all, if I required a 302ci Boss would you give me one that you had stored in your garage for the past 20 years?? I doubt it, and anyway, they are quite easily available elsewhere, so I wouldn't be asking for one.

Anyway, if you wish to sign-off by referring to the members on here as "Bitches", that is unlikely to get you many friends here.

(Oh, and as I am driving up to Yorkshire tomorrow to see a good friend (and Elan owner on here) for the weekend, I was considering dropping you a line to see if I could drop by to see if I could throw some light on the situation - but now I don't feel so inclined. So, I'll spend the time helping Nick to improve his car with some of my hoard of parts which he hasn't yet 'borrowed' from me, 'cos I'm such a selfish bitch!!!!!!!)

I have never called you a liar. But I have asked to see/hear the video of the engine running on several occasions and it has not been forthcoming. I have stated several times that the M100 engine will not start without an ECU. That is not the same as calling you a liar. Your words !!

And calling me an "ignorant twat" and others "bitches" won't ingratiate you to anyone wanting to help you. Dapinky, for one, has been his usual, knowledgeable, helpful self and was prepared to drive out of his way this w/e to help further. But now you've chucked all your toys out of your pram in a hissy fit you've blown it big time.

Your posts have made you look foolish and rude, particularly the misogynist remarks in your first few postings. You are glad to leave LEC and we are sorry to see you go. But it's your loss and our gain.

I really think that this is one of those which should be scrapped/broken as there are just too many variables with it (missing parts and/or dubious history)......

..... that said, whoever currently owns it (if the Ebay seller is/isn't the bloke who paid over the odds at the salvage auction and/or someone pretending to be or not to be.....) has more invested that it is going to realise in a short-term.

Those who have the knowledge and skills/storage for breaking it won't want to pay what the owner wants for it, and I believe that a reasonable cost/value would be closer to £500 than the numbers published.

If the owner had left it complete (or as close as it was with the missing parts) it would perhaps appeal to a restorer - but stripped into a load of parts suggests that it is incomplete (which we know it to be), or good for parts only.

Whatever - it certainly isn't going to find a home with me!

With no mention of a missing ECU...
What an interesting thread with such an unfortunate conclusion.
I for one believe 100% in the value of forums such as this and have already received some valuable information from my short time here.

Ah, that old chesnut. More like lack of ECU, rear lights and many hard to get parts prevents him from continuing.
