Does he need someone to come drive the cars while he's gone?? I'm just saying....

I'll bring Zizi back when he's home :-D

I'm back home now Doug. Thanks for your generous offer to take care of Zizi. :-D

And 1st thing I did was making sure the transmission oil was full and the retaining plate was secured. Installed a new set of Beru Sparkplug wires too.

Tons of small projects were done since last time I posted. Besides that I've been too busy driving Zizi around ;-)

I am waiting for the custom made caliper crossover pipes. In the mean time, Marie showed me a new toy from her creation.

Thanks much again to Marie. We messed around with the fuel sender last night, swapped out the ceramic chip.
Quite some amount of work put into it lately, to get the turn signal dash blinkers and the gauges to work and be properly calibrated.

Now my fuel gauge is super accurate ;-)

J'étais en train de parcourir les topics sur les projets des membres... d'ailleurs, félicitation pour cette très belle Elan, LHD qui plus est!
Et là! Quelques mots de Français! Je crois que nous ne sommes pas nombreux sur ce forum, sniff.

I like your gauges/counters conversion. But I wonder what it looks like if the holding plate was black. Can you send us a picture and I'll make a photoshop!

La langue est juste le moyen de transport.

The gauges came directly from a Lotus Esprit. In black? It might look similar to this:

Merci. Conduire sans accident. Apprécier votre Elan.

1st step: Remove the pants :-D

Marie figured it was a good day to install my fog lights.

Image

Like usual, she disappeared for a while. Then came back and put this thing in my hand. .... Holy cow!! Another custom bracket magically appeared on earth.

Part of the prep work.

And I remember she soldered a thing or two.

Image

Added that to the factory grounding location.

Image

Of course that Marie riveted and wired it just like the way it came from Lotus. Precisely the same materials and techniques were applied. (This is right behind the top part of the front bumper)

Image

I remember (or don't) there was something to do with the fuses, or the relay.

Image

Final step: Calibrating the beam... :-) I'll post the picture how they look during day time later.

Would that we all had a Marie close by. More great work and another bit of bling for already blingy Zizi. :smt023

That was a bit of work. Ran out of gas while welding. Still turned out looking as a factory install would. Spot on in the corners and give good light output. Used the factory relay for the rear fogs and just wired them for the fronts as fed cars don't utilize the rears. Ran the new wielding as factory and soldered into the OEM ground. Steel mounts bolt onto the front bumper support and mount solid. Tapped the lights for metric screws to forgo the shite screws the Hellas came with. At some point I may remake these in alloy and do a small run. Really a worthwhile upgrade to the Fed cars. Not sure it it would work on the ROWs.

The lights I used. Good airflow to lessen the effect on cooling the oil and intercooler.

I had allowed for air flow hence the size 60mm x 36mm lens against 66mm diameter but still a nice job which ever way you look at it.
Those Hella lights seem to be about £80.00 to £90.00 over here against £32.00 it was just a thought.
I do not have a problem with air flow on the left hand side as no aftercooler to worry about.

Pics? Would love to see the work.

The Hellas also match the current projector headlamps employed. They are actually quite petite. The dimensions are at the widest part of the housing well hidden away.
