M100 SE Handbook

Postby Nick Brough » Wed 31.01.2018, 22:38

Hi,

I am looking for a spare handbook to go in a 1991 M100 so I can keep the original with service history safe, please let me know if you have one to sell.

Thanks

I have been with an elan friend this weekend and he has an unstamped device book . I asked him if he wanted to sell it which he declined. I did mention to him that they do sell for a few quid. So with that he’s going to see if he can get some reprinted out east where he frequents a lot.

Sounds like a great Group Buy to me - I'd be in for one to put in the car.

It’s something I have been thinking about for a while. Especially a clip in section for the higher mileage/ time service intervals. Most of our books are full now . Even if we self service. It would be nice to have a tidy section to write in all the way up to 250,000 miles.

Being a cheap-skate, I just use a scanned version of the book to keep my service record up to date... :?

They are in PDF format and work for me albeit not very quickly .. If you want me to email the PDFs directly, just send me your email address and I will attach the two files.

The second link opens much more quickly.

Something like these
service pages.pdf
(132.53 KiB) Downloaded 19 times
which i made up.......

The actual .pdf handbook was created by surferphil many years ago for the benefit of us all.

I have added that file to the manuals page as well. I will fix the font when I get a chance.

It is titled Elan-M100=Extra-Service-Pages

Thanks, Phil!

Those links to the pdf's of the Handbook posted by John (BCN) produce documents in page order and are great for reading ( SurferPhil) but don't really work if you want a printed version ... so thought I'd create one that did.
I spent last evening dismantling one of my handbooks, printing appropriate unfilled pages from SurferPhil's pdfs and Pinky's enhanced Maintenance History and generally re-sorting, sticking bits on with prit stick and then scanning it all in.

Good job I had another handbook as it got confusing at times with all those loose pages ...

The centre part from pages 15 to 62 was easy as I could shove it in the scanner auto sheet feeder and scan both sides but made 2 separate pdf files to keep file size down - files ending '25_50' and '15_26 51_62'.
Other pages needed a bit more care to keep the stuck on bits in place. I scanned at 300 dpi to give a good print quality but found the files are still way too large to upload to LEC !!!
I've ended up with 3 files of around 6.5Mb each so I've emailed them to John to hopefully add to his Manuals page .. :poke:

Page 64 onwards has had some modification. I moved the Notes Pages (was 73/74) to be the other half of pages 11/12 (65/66) which is usually missing - did the dealer sent 65/66 to the factory to confirm sales info' ?
I've used the other blank pages (73,74,75) for more Maintenance History but could only fit in to 168,000 miles, sorry Dave. Those pages and their 'other half' are on the pdf with '1_14 63_76' in the title.

To print I used a printer that can print both sides of the paper and selected Landscape, A4 paper and Flip on Short edge. It will be 37 A4 sheets in total and you'll need plenty of ink ..
Just print all 3 to the same format. Order of printing doesn't matter as it's obvious how the sheets go together once printed.

I found it best to fold each sheet in half individually, then assembled them and fired a staple gun through the spine in 3 places. Now I just need to trim with a decent guillotine.

If you want copies of the files prior to John adding them to his superb resource just PM a request to me including your email address ...
If you've only got a single side printer it's still possible by printing odd pages and then feeding back in for even pages .. but I always ended up with one side upside down somewhere in the process.. :bonk:

Have fun...
Phil

To keep the three page files together, I have Zipped them into one file and it is now added (and noted) to the Manuals page that is linked in my signature.
Thanks Phil

Thanks John. I downloaded it to test it and McAfee warned "Whoa that download is dangerous! Might contain viruses..." but I chose "Accept the risk" and it downloaded and unzipped fine... just my 3 pdf's in there.

Most virus checkers dislike ZIP files, but that is the most common method of compression, so that's what I use. I could use RAR, but it is not as common.
