Seat Recliner Wheel

Postby riksit2000 » Sun 13.05.2018, 10:16

Need help with finding two seat recliner wheels for an SE. Any guidance much appreciated. I have found a part number A100U6012F, just need to know best place to buy now. I'm sure I read somewhere that they are they same as several other GM cars, so could be sourced at a reasonable price. many thanks in advance, Richard.

Have you tried Lotus?

Last time I looked it was only the special split /tab/drive washer that wasn't available.

Hi, I've been reading through related topics but I can't find one that explains how to get the recliner wheel off the seat. The one on the driver's side has become loose and sometimes just spins but I can't see how to remove it completely to see what is happening. I cold try levering-out the centre circle but I'm scared this will damage the plastic. Can someone let me know?

Gently lever the centre out, maybe the retainer bolt has come loose. Will attach some pics.

That's great Wayne. I've teased out the centre part and the bolt had come loose. I've tightened it up and put the centre cover back on but now it refuses to go all the way in. It is as if the wheel has gone on too far so the centre is left sticking out by about 1 centimetre. Any ideas?

You could remove the bung, loosen the bolt, center the wheel and re-tighten?

The metal ring which actually locates in a slot to make the adjustment has probably slipped round whilst the bolt was undone. Try pulling out the plug, undoing the bolt completely, remove the metal ring to check that you haven't distorted it, (if so, bend it back a bit!), replace it in the correct place (it only goes in one place!!), re-do the bolt and stick the plug back.........

....... It's probably taken longer for me to write this, and you to read it, than it will to do the job :D
Dave

Just the one now, but this one's mine! - and it will be finished eventually.....

go on - click this link - you know you want to!

Hi guys, thanks for your suggestions. I don't get as much time as I'd like to work on my car but I had another go at it yesterday. I tried everything to get the bung to go back in. I even used a touch of Evo-Stik to hold the large washer in place on the inside of the wheel and another touch on the outside to hold the small washer centrally on the boss but it still wouldn't fit. Eventually I gave it some firm chaps with a hammer. It was a really tight fit so I hope it never has to come out again.
I fitted a light bar this morning but I'll start another thread for that.
