Gromets

Postby nicowalker1 » Fri 12.05.2017, 21:00

Anyone have available or know where to get the rubber gromets that fit into the bottom of the bumper infront of the oil and intercoolers (approx 12cm diameter)? I dont mind if its after market, I just want something to fill the gap so the air flows through as intended.

Now obsolete from Lotus who suggests Miles Wilkins at FGS but SJs have X026B0371Z listed for £9.60 each.

That should get you started...

I think it has always been X026B0371Z (in my parts book anyway) which is originally a Tunnel Grommet for accessing the propshaft grease nipple on a 60's elan - available from any lotus suppler.

Red gaffer tape. A cheap and easy short/long term solution ;-)

Whilst I love the sentiment, for this particular application I'd push the boat out and cut some circles of neoprene sheet and silicone them on the inside surface - can still be pushed out if required, but should be solid enough to stay put..... not quite so easy as the gaffer tape, but just as cheap as I have the bits in the garage :D

That's a good, cheap solution Dave :!:

Better still, cut out a couple for Nick and bring along to Castle Combe in 2 weeks and swap for a couple of pints

Jobs a good 'un

I can happily cut a couple of bits if you want to bodge it up, Nick.... let me know if you want them.

Thank you for the replies. Dave, I will try and get hold of the proper parts. If I struggle or they are taking an age to come, I will take you up on your kind offer.

Hi Nico , I bought some from eBay .they are a good fit but quite thin so I'll add a blob of silicone when fitting them
