Red Samco

Does anybody have a spare red samco hose, from thermostat to the top radiator? I've a feeling mine must have a split as I can't get a decent seal at the radiator end.

Are you sure there is no split in the connector on the rad itself?

Odd that you should say that, I had a set of Samco's fitted by Coz at Sportomotive and I can still detect that unmistakeable "hot water" smell after a good run :?
Coz thinks it's the make up of the hoses in that the silicone doesn't bind to the pipes like OEM hoses despite all connections being checked and tightened.
Interested to know if anyone else has noticed this?
(By the way I am not loosing any appreciable coolant)

I always found that there was a very slight weep on a couple of the connections when I had Samco hoses fitted to my Collapso red Rambo. Thus was despite the hoses fitting tightly and purchasing their set of correct sized Jubilee clips. I also had no appreciable loss of coolant but checked the header tank every few months or so and topped up to the max level with fresh 40% coolant whenever needed

Perhaps Coz's theory is correct in that rubber binds to the surface and silicone, being a bit more slippery, doesn't :smt017

Nice to hear others have had the same... I was only losing a small amount. I had a spare hour so thought I'd try and stop it, after several attempts resulting in drips, I now have it back to a very slow weep. The rad is fine as it is new. The top hose connection is quite long so I'm going to try a second jubilee on it to see if it helps. As I'm sure you guys found out, access is not great!

There's a very good reason why silicone is used for moulds…

Try hairspray  and good quality clamps.
