Set of shocks and springs wanted

Postby Lotusman33 » Sun 15.10.2017, 15:54

Hi All
After a set of SE or S2 shocks and springs?

Anything considered provided dampers not leaking as will refurbish.

Dave :)

As luck would have it, I have (as of yesterday) sorted out my 'spare parts' from the garage, ready to move house....

.... amongst the pile of stuff now in the front garden, waiting for the scrap man to collect, are 2 sets of springs and 6 shocks. I have had them for many years, and now decided that I don't need to hoard any longer (as I have new ones on my car, and am unlikely to ever replace with OE ones).

They are in 'used' condition - the shocks are NOT leaking, but are showing signs of rusing to the body. One set of springs are quite rusty, but the other set are still black coated (but dusty).

I was intending to fling them out, assuming that no-one would want them.....

..... but if they are any use to you, then I will rescue them. I only took them off my car when doing everything up on the suspension and fitting AVO units and new springs.

However, my removal date is likely to be 23rd of this month. That said, I am quite happy to take them with me to Pembroke to arrange getting them to you in due course (unless you need them ungently, in which case, other arrangements will need to be sorted).

Needless to say, I don't want anything for them as they are destined for the metal bin at the local tip!

Just the one now, but this one's mine! - and it will be finished eventually.....

A massive big thanks to Dave today for sending me his used shocks/springs, off to the powder coaters tomorrow for refurbish although tidy already.
If they work out well and relax IB10 then I will keep the car and move on the Esprit Dry Sump.

Do you happen to have a good-ish rear set of SE shocks?
I don't remember which side but the MOT guy told me that one of them is definitely weak, so I could be interested if nobody actually need them more than me.
I will replace them sooner or later but that still could be a short term solution.

Anything else available? :-D
I am also loosely looking for a used set of hood seals. Not to mount them but just, maybe one day, to replicate them. So, even split or cut seals could be OK as long as they can be put back in once piece with an acceptable shape.

Lotusman33 > that would be great if you keep it! :D (and the dry sump too! :poke: )
By the way have you ever dumped your eprom?
Has anybody compared it to the regular ones?

No never done much about the eprom as would not know what to fit, it is a modified original rather than S2 as set up for the closed loop system fitted to the car. The whole wiring loom is different with odd colours and plugs.
Not sure if a S2 unit would fit and run okay?
The car is set up for low end power and it breaks traction quite easily but tails off on the top end, certainly odd compared to my previous SE's and S2's I have owned.

Hey Clemo
Yes looking forward to getting the handling trial done with the replacement suspension, going to do a full refurb with all new fastenings and any bushes when stripped.
Definitely up for a 2018 Devon meet mate.
Have you been let down again with the SE?
I still need to clear a car so may market my Dry Sump Esprit in the new year and keep my lovely M100.
