Window Bobbin

Postby par » Tue 23.01.2018, 00:09

Might be a slim chance but does anyone have a spare window bobbin (or up stop cone as it is called on the SJ website) that they would be prepared to part with.

I ended up having to destroy one while removing the drivers window as despite soaking with Plusgas over a number of days the screw wouldnt budge and inevitably the screw head stripped while trying to release it.

If nobody closer to you can help, I have a spare available. You would just need to pay the postage. I can get it posted quickly but it won't be very quickly delivered.
"Priority" has a different meaning to the USPS.

I don't have a spare original retainer though. Can you salvage that? If not, I could probably make something similar, but would need to try before promising.

Thanks will bear that in mind if no-one in the UK has one spare.

Was hoping to avoid SJS as I will end up adding a few parts to my order to justify the delivery cost and next thing I know its cost me £50

I did manage to save the retainer though!

That's good about the retainer. Postage by first class mail (2 to 3 weeks) is $16.00 and priority mail (around 14 days if customs grabs it) is $40.00.

No worries if someone else has a spare.

You could try yer pal Jeemy in East Lothian Stephen. He has 2 Elan's that he's scrapping. Can't promise you'll get hold of him or he'll ever get back to you though

Would be better to write a note to Santa and send it up the chimney than try that route Mark!

If you paid him a visit, you might get what you need for a reasonable price. It's only 65 miles or so, but might be worth the visit. He might even have something else you are interested in.
