lost door lock knob

I lost a door knob plunger thingy !
Main dealers and iffy bits parts dealers have none in stock, forever .
Breakers yards devoid of old Carltons.
Next step , make some !
I've done them in aluminium , but i am not sure i like em much
I will copy them in resin when i get the chance but for now , they will do .

By the way these are black painted but i spent an hour or two dyeing them with fabric dye after a dip in caustic soda and battery acid anodising .
The dye did not take at all so paint it was .

They look good, Rob - but have you tried using normal inkjet printer ink for dyeing after anodising? It's how I do it - and you can get whatever colour you want

I agree - they DO look good. But I have to ask: without the little window for the dreaded chocolate orange clip, how are you going to get them to stay put?
Grub screw or something?

For now i will use construction silicone as a glue to hold them in place,they will come off easily if i want em to.
These are only test pieces i made yesterday but i do like the idea of a brass or stainless flush grub screw .
I am going to do a resin copy of the original without the orange clip hole anyway so , yes , a grub screw it will be .
I will try printer ink as a dye on the spare aluminium bar i have left over .
I do like to play .
