Full respray and colour change - DIY

Well I wasn't sure if I was capable. But I gave it a shot. Decided a full respray and change of colour for my son's Elan was in order.

Managed to do the full strip down in around 5 minutes. Respray didn't take too long either. Now ready to put back together.

I'm sure you'll agree, a successful project.

Have you ever considered what loosing the originality has done to the value of that car?

When I did mine, I found the most difficult part was re-fitting the rear lights (and the bonnet logo).....

.....but then the wife wanted the interior done to match the car, so it was out with the red for the carpets and seat stripes

I'm all over that. Door cards being painted to match the refurb on my car. feel a little sad now.

Damn it. Never thought about it. I'll have my son take it back to the charity store for a revaluation.

Hard to see from the pics but I'm sure you did the red stitching on the shift gaiter too?

I've got 3 of the blue ones and thought about doing this for fun when I have free time. So... when the kids turn 18? (18 more years!)

Refitting is the reverse sequence to removal....
