Understood the original plates behind perspex cover we're metal, to avoid the heat distorting the lettering.

The 3 I have all came with plastic ones but I put a metal one in the car I have for sale and the letters are fine :-D

I got a Gatso speeding ticket with the perspex plinth on my BRG before I changed to a CF Panel, so they don't help! :evil:

I don't think Gatso cameras were about in the early 90s anyway, it was all bobbys with radar guns where I lived.

It's a lot cheaper to make those vacuum formed plinths, than the perspex ones especially if the number plate melts. That's more of a likely explanation.

I always wanted to make one for a series 1 esprit!

Of course I can. It could be just a JPS logo on one face :-D

Think the JPS logo is perhaps a bit OTT Phil :lol:

, but did think anyone who's into bodywork could easily make something to fit behind the plinth with the perspex, even if it was rotated by hand, for days when one expects to be putting ones foot down .

I'd do it for a show car, but not for road use; I'd probably end up in court for conspiracy to defraud the state or pervert the course of justice, just like those guys who spray or attach things to their number plates to reflect the Gatso camera flash. I went to school in south bristol, I don't want to end up in the glass house with that lot again! Especially without the girls

I'm just practising techniques with the simplicity of the number plate carrier/plinth, before I attempt the whole panel :-D
